Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim capped off his one-day visit to Penang on Saturday by attending the highlight event of the National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) 2026 celebrations.
Fresh from a two-day official visit to Turkmenistan, Anwar arrived in Malaysia at 3.30am before heading to Penang for three separate engagements, with the Hawana gala serving as his final programme in the state.
During the Hawana event, Anwar announced that the government would continue allocating funds under the Media Innovation Fund to support the transformation and long-term sustainability of the country’s media industry.
The prime minister said the initiative is aimed at strengthening operational capabilities and accelerating digital transformation among local media organisations in response to the rapidly evolving media landscape.

Perikatan Nasional (PN), led by PAS, will not bow to any party in the upcoming Johor state election, the coalition’s deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said.
The PAS deputy president said he expects multi-cornered contests involving Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) as well as coalition partners Bersatu and also independent candidates.
“If MUDA decides to join the fray, it will be even more lively. The political landscape in Peninsular Malaysia could resemble Sabah, with many parties contesting,” he told TRP when contacted.
However, Tuan Ibrahim stressed that PAS would study the matter further and discuss it with its coalition partners before making any decisions.

We asked some Malaysians and they gave some pretty strong opinions! This also serves as a friendly reminder that we should always put on our best behavior while travelling overseas because we tend to hate on those who don't behave here 👁️👁️
