@WG_RumblePants@TheCricketPaper@markbutcher72 And test wickets usually have a bit of life in them so I don’t know if this game is the best judge? Surely him bowling 26 overs is great
@WG_RumblePants@TheCricketPaper@markbutcher72 Yeah no doubt he was shocking in India, really dropped off during the 23 ashes, but a few years out of the side and he’s probably desperate to play again and he looks like he’s got a point to prove this year
@WG_RumblePants@TheCricketPaper@markbutcher72 Also bowled the joint 2nd most overs and captained had the 3rd best economy rate and bowled well he’s had a few good spells and looked sharp in the opening overs. Surely with the rest of the test attack his workload would be less?
@AadityaN_28 Yeah but it was really good fun and that was a great thing! English cricket was in the dumps and they chased 370 easily they could’ve chased 450 no sweat. This is a different side now and the comment is still fine relax
McCullum stokes was exactly what England needed in 2022 the next step is harnessing all of this talent. Whoever inherits this team in February/March is gonna build a really good side.
@AzeemRafiq30 Bethell absolutely has a higher ceiling but jacks is more ready now which is what England need. Deepen the batting with a seasoned pro who has made big runs against good attacks
@jimb0_12 Very different spinner to moeen though lot more upright gets a lot more over spin on the ball etc plus he’d do a very different job to moeen was ever asked to do in aus
Bethell's ODI innings in 2025: 51, 82, 17, 1, 58, 110.
You'd be forgiven for thinking he'd never scored a run for England listening to some of the recent discourse about him
