@benjamincowen Literally 4 months in a row of downward movement with alts down 70%+ since Dec 2024… been in a bear market for over a year at this point
@PeterSchiff Using Greenspan as a role model for good Fed Policy and Macro Analysis would not be my choice. Only need to read all his economic papers (particularly about Iceland) in the years building up to the 2008 financial crisis to see he was more married to Ideology than Analysis
@caprioleio For sure miners are pivoting towards AI. That will also become overblown though at some point given the insane amounts of money poured into new data centres
@benjamincowen There are still some „alt“ L1s that have a genuine shot at changing the world and genuinely innovate. But in all, most chains and tokens are just Pump and Dump scams
@skiffpusher@Stewbiedo0 Quite the generalisation. No doubt that immigration reform with clearer rules, restrictions and fraud prevention / oversight is needed. That needs to happen in Congress though and not from the Executive
@mattwr@Stewbiedo0 Can assure you first hand that isn’t true, especially for artists. Look at all of the foreign artists cancelling tours the past months because they haven’t gotten visas. The cost is also significantly higher.
@85percentweare@Stewbiedo0 Agreed. Being appalled by the militarisation of immigration officers and consequential death of citizens in the streets does not mean you don’t believe in immigration laws or their enforcement…
@BroasterD@CalvinMcCrea@Stewbiedo0 Orginal point made was that the immigration system in US has been obviously in need of reform for decades. There are genuine asylum cases, there is also a need for workers and could be a sensible system put in place… but congress has been utterly useless
@kiki13ka@Stewbiedo0 Can get much earlier, just chose not to because prior to 2024 would have to renounce the US citizenship and didn’t want to do that. That was changed
The issue in the post is about how the laws are enforced, not whether or not they should exist. Many are appalled by the violence by masked agents that has now led to the death of citizens who are very publicly killed in streets. That’s not happening in Germany and hasn’t since the 30‘s/40s… But the fact that people recognize that they can’t stay somewhere illegally and that we should have immigration laws can be enforced humanely isn’t some form of „gotcha“ hypocrisy as the post implies.
@Rockwol09271151@SamWhittemor@Stewbiedo0 The post that you’ve reshared is someone making that false equivalency. Asylum in Germany works the same way as in US. Millions waiting for answer while in the country. Staying without a pending application is illegal, just like in the USA.
Germany has the second largest immigrant population in the world according to available statistics. As a percentage of population, it would be the same as USA about. No one would call the immigration system here „Good“ either… but the government has taken active steps to improve and reform the past years
