“Grief comes back in strange ways. A song, a smell, a forgotten phrase someone used to say. You think you’re done mourning. Until your chest opens like a door you forgot you left unlocked.” @rmdrk
Leadership is not about pulling people to follow your path. It's about shining enough light for them to find their own route.
Bosses aim to wield power. They issue commands to maintain control.
Leaders strive to empower. They delegate authority to unleash potential.
When teachers are respected, valued, supported, & feel like their talents are utilized, they are 6 times more engaged! and 3 times more likely to say they have a higher quality of life!
We hire teachers based on their strengths but then we manage them based on their weaknesses. This is a morale buster. Leaders, help them develop those strengths in the new school year and watch them do amazing things!
We've always had SEL in schools. It was called recess, unstructured play, Music, Arts, Physical Education, Etc. But they've been removed or reduced to spend more time on testing, & then we wonder why students lack social/emotional skills to self regulate, focus, & reduce stress.
We spend millions to implement research based practices. BUT, we ignore the extensive research that shows how play, recess, & physical activity, can improve focus, self regulation, and on task behavior, as well as academic achievement, interpersonal skills & mental health.
Congratulations to Mrs. Malinda Britt on being named our Jane H Bryan 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year!! 🎉
Mrs. Britt is a hardworking, dedicated, and very loved teacher. We are so fortunate to call her one of our very own!
Education is not student centered, but it is relationship centered. Principals who build relationships with teachers will get their best & teachers who build relationships with students will get their best.
Building relationships doesn't just help with behavior in the classroom, but students also work harder for teachers they care for them and respect them. Relationships before rigor.
