My successor, as Governor of @edinburghcastle, will be installed tomorrow, on behalf of The King, by Lord Lyon King of Arms.

I wish my ‘kin’, Robert Bruce, Lorna his wife and their two children, every joy and good wish in their term of office.

Another ‘Bruce’ for Scotland’s greatest fortress, which one of my visitors once described as, “The Elephant in the City: you just can’t ignore it, or miss it!”

Its ramparts are imbued with Scotland’s extraordinary martial tradition and forever makes one proud of the Scottish soldier, generation by generation.

Like me, General Bob has faced conflict in company with Scottish soldiers: we both hold unconfined awe for their raw courage, endless energy and direct humour.

There is no greater tradition to represent & uphold.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
