It's suspected that many of the policies said to "help pedestrians" are primarily implemented in order to further persecute motorists by narrowing roads, restricting access and removing parking spaces. https://t.co/fx4LKRJev6
โ ๏ธ This 508t vehicle is entering Cheshire after passing through Talke/Newcastle. Police are holding traffic as it approaches Congleton on the A34.
The 5.8m wide load is travelling from Stafford to Ellesmere Port over the weekend. It is being escorted by police and is moving slowly. Expect delays.
The 96m long vehicle has come from GE Vernova's factory in Stafford, transporting a Supergrid Transformer within a girder frame trailer. It has mant axles to evenly distribute the weight.
Today's route (Staffs):
โข Ranshaw Dr to Riverway by Hough Retail Park
โข A34 via Lichfield Rd & Queensway passed Stafford centre
โข A518 via Lammascote Rd, Weston Rd & Beaconside
โข A34 north via Stone Rd
โข A34 contraflow passed Stone
โข Back onto A34 north at Darlaston
โข Continues on A34 via Trentham & Hanford
โข A527 & A52 contraflow around Newcastle-under-Lyme centre (via 'Fountains Roundabout')
โข Back onto A34 via Lower Street & Liverpool Rd
โข A34 from Newcastle Rd onto Congleton Rd at Talke (via 'Box Crossroads')
โข A34 into Padgbury Ln & Box Ln in Congleton, Cheshire
โข It will stop for the night in the A54 area
Will post tomorrow's route later.
The above info is based on previous moves by Collett from Stafford to Ellesmere Port. The order typically covers Saturday, Sunday & Monday.
The gross vehicle weight is 508 tonnes. It is 96 metres long and 5.8 metres wide. Due to these oversized dimensions it must take a complex route that includes occupying the opposite side of the carriageway.

More green virtue signalling money waste for Cambridgeshire. First fill in the pot holes in the roads before more unused cycle ways & stupid 20mph zones.
Cambridge busway project reduced in size after feedback - BBC News

@HowardCCox@dailyexpress Part of the problem is that the Government funds these crazy schemes so that Councils can signal their virtue without bearing the costs. A sane Government would immediately shut down these slush funds for 20mph zones, better bus stops etc.
The imposition of 20mph zones has been decided outside democracy by transnational "elite" bodies like the UN and WHO. This explains why councils ignore public opposition and also why nearly identical (30km/h) policies are being implemented across the West: https://t.co/JTX7TxQEkF
A report published by Bath and North East Somerset Council has found that the rates of people killed or seriously injured went up in the majority of 20mph zones in the 12 months after they were installed at a cost of ยฃ871,000.

Flintshire is among the 10 highest spending authorities in the UK on 20mph zones in the last three years.
The authority spent ยฃ1,796,000 on changing roads to 20mph โ the eighth highest in Britain. In Wales only Swansea spent more.

Blanket 20mph zones were never about common sense. They were designed to nudge drivers out of their cars as part of the wider assault on travel and mobility; imposed despite officials knowing the economic costs would far outweigh the benefits. https://t.co/3fDpgPvdPO
See my comments on Confused dot com's analysis in @DailyExpress's article about more authorities upgrading 20 mph roads to 30mph
Their report tells us Britain's 20mph rollout has become an expensive political virtue-signalling ideology rather than effective transportation policy
