Born from a nightmare, Cathedral summons listeners into a hallucinatory world of dread and darkness. Unfolding as a series of episodes tied to an abandoned church, Carpenter’s heaviest and most ominous work yet is the score to the movie in his mind.

Featuring newly commissioned artwork by Randy Ortiz, this anniversary edition pairs the original album with a bonus 7” containing “Real Xeno,” now available on vinyl outside its original, limited Sacred Bones Society release for the first time. The B-side features an exclusive etched design created especially for this edition.
Available as our Sacred Bones exclusive Blue & Magenta Plasma LP and 7-inch. Limited to 850. Grab your copy while they last! Our friends at @CodaCurates also carry their own exclusive variant on Red Smoke LP and Red 7-inch.
Released in 2016, Lost Themes II broadened the sonic world of its predecessor, pairing Carpenter’s unmistakable gift for atmosphere and suspense with his trademark minimal synth, richer arrangements, and electric and acoustic guitars. Free from the constraints of the screen, the Lost Themes series has taken on a life of its own, becoming one of the defining chapters of Carpenter’s career and expanding his legacy far beyond film scores. A decade on, Lost Themes II remains a landmark in the series and an essential work in Carpenter’s catalog, a testament to his musical vision and remarkable ability to create worlds that extend far beyond film.

BlobCo and Storm King Comics present WTF Wednesday: John Carpenter’s Cathedral Listening Party Double Feature at the Rosendale Theatre!
Be among the first audiences in the world to experience a brand new sonic nightmare from John Carpenter, with a special video intro from The Horror Master himself!
An abandoned cathedral. A gruesome murder. A powerful supernatural entity living in the catacombs. It all comes to a head in downtown Los Angeles. What will happen and who will live to tell the tale? Such is the storyline of Cathedral, the thrilling new album and terrifying graphic novel from director and musician John Carpenter, based on a dream Carpenter had in 2024.
Cathedral has all the drama, dark atmosphere, and frenetic pacing of a classic heavy metal record. Especially designed as the soundtrack to the graphic novel, each track corresponds to a specific section of the book. The liner notes included with the album packaging feature prompts for each track, creating a fully interactive experience. Combined with the graphic novel, it’s the closest thing to a new John Carpenter film in years.
Following the Cathedral Listening Party stick around for a screening of John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness, featuring one of Carpenter’s most complete and aurally unnerving scores.
Want to take the terror home? The complete John Carpenter’s Cathedral Bundle, featuring the graphic novel, and Deep Blue Variant LP is available for purchase with a special discount for Rosendale Theatre Members!

About John Carpenter’s Cathedral (The Graphic Novel):
In the middle of downtown Los Angeles, an abandoned cathedral stands, fenced in and ignored by the world around it. The preoccupied passers-by have long since ceased to notice
Today, @TheHorrorMaster and longtime band mates Cody Carpenter and @DDaviesMusic share a second track from ‘Cathedral’ - a project that marks Carpenter’s highly anticipated return to the realm of audio/visual narrative storytelling. Following previously shared track “Lord of The Underground”, today we share the grinding and dramatic track “The Ferryman”, along with imagery from the graphic novel. Incredible visualizer by Antwan R. Johnson @iamtweezy904
The project spans a new album set for release August 7th on @SacredBones alongside his first ever graphic novel, set for release August 4 via @StormKingComics.
In a story rich with River Styx iconography, “The Ferryman” scores a scene in which we encounter the subterranean character of the same name. “I like that one because it really seems to feature all three of us in a special way,” Davies says. “It has interesting harmonies that Cody put together and John’s signature pad-style string parts. It’s more of an electronic metal track in a way, but we just wanted to make it as heavy and driving as possible.”
Designed as a fully immersive project, ‘Cathedral’ functions as both soundtrack and narrative engine: each track aligns with a chapter of the graphic novel, with liner notes guiding listeners through the story. As a result the story unfurls like a film and is certainly the closest approximation to a new movie from Carpenter since 2010. “It was so cinematic and vivid,” Carpenter says of the dream that inspired the story. “I thought, ‘I have to score this.’ It’s kind of our first heavy metal album.”

From Da' Ville to the Grammys. A few days ago, my visualizer for @TheHorrorMaster - single Lord Of The Underground - played for a sold-out crowd at the @GRAMMYMuseum while he and @claudsimonetti entertained us all with a dope convo.
Guess I'm part of the Grammy family now.
