Why I believe there’ll be a staged Greek–Turkish war this year 👇
The US & Israel are clearly moving toward war with Iran. But in a wider conflict, Israel also has to neutralise Turkey and Russia.
A Greek–Turkish war solves both. Turkey shuts the Bosphorus, blocking Russian naval access to the Middle East, while Greece & Cyprus absorb Turkey’s full attention.
Not chaos — strategy. Save this it will age well.
The two people who ultimately influenced my initial inquiry into Orthodoxy & decision to become a catechumen were the Blessed Saint Seraphim Rose & my now friend Jay Dyer. God bless all of your future endeavors 🙏🏻☦️
Riding the line between talking theology / doing debates, and all the other issues like geopolitics, lit, satire has been an odd thing. For some it is confusing, for others, not an issue.
However, after 10 years of mixed content, I feel that the time of online theology debate for me has come to a close. No one has of yet told me to say this - it’s a decision I’ve pondered for a while. I would rather focus on other topics I find interesting and religion is authentically at the parish level, not online anyway. It seems as if online theology debate is pretty much done. Onward to producing fun content on the other subjects!
“As regards the jews, Saint Andrew says only this. And there will be great zeal, and he will persecute the jews. From this it appears that with particular zeal the Holy King will turn to the return of the jews to Christ & will mercilessly crush every jew who will resist his preaching & will again prefer unbelief, denial, rather than believing in the Gospel of Christ. They will be crushed & will disappear from the face of the earth.”
-Elder Abraham the Athonite on how the prophesied Marble King (St. John Vatatzes) will deal with the jewish question upon his return. From a 2015 radio broadcast in Greece 🇬🇷☦️👑
Celebrating the fall of Constantinople is like a thief celebrating stolen treasure. For Greeks the conquest of 1453 was not a triumph but the loss of a civilization’s capital, centuries of heritage, and countless lives. History should be remembered.
573 years ago today, May 29 1453, the Queen of Cities fell.
Constantine XI, the last Roman Emperor, cast off his regalia, drew his sword, and charged into the breach to die with his men. His body was never found.
But the City will come again. Our saints foretold it: Divine Liturgy will once more be sung in Hagia Sophia. God hears the prayers of Orthodox Christians. Do not despair.
