Voilà! Our latest publication on protocell population dynamics has been published. Check it out here... https://t.co/66KnBHsPWG. Published in Philosophical Transactions @royalsociety B: Biological Sciences. Kudos to @COoLLabSR@RuchiraPal1.
Today, we celebrated the graduation of 363 students as part of the 13th #Convocation of #IISERPune✨✨🎓 Chief Guest Shri Sanjay Kirloskar delivered an inspiring #ConvocationAddress. He said that long-term success is built through disciplined, science-based decision-making and a commitment to societal relevance. IISER Pune Board of Governors #BoG Chairperson Shri M. Madan Gopal (IAS) spoke about the achievements of the institute members, the transformation India is witnessing, and encouraged all to be part of nation building. Director Prof. Sunil S. Bhagwat noted the strides being made by #IISERPuneAlumni in their chosen fields and urged the graduates to carry on this legacy and a culture of #excellence. Our best wishes to the graduates and their families many of whom traveled to the campus to celebrate this special day together!
Here are a few glimpses from the convocation ceremony! #GraduationDay #Convocation2026
This work highlights how amino acid monomers may have been crucial co-solutes in RNA copying chemistry and might have acted as a prebiotic buffer, facilitating liposomal protocell formation during the origins of life. A double bonanza...
Check out recent work from @COoLLabSR at that sheds light on the role of- Amino Acids as Molecular Linchpins in the Fundamental Prebiotic Processes. Now published in @Astrobiology_jn. https://t.co/cTRzt6gJI5. A fun collaborative venture with @uditabanerjee98 & @mulewarsahil
Dr. Gayathri Pananghat, IISER Pune, shows how students move beyond classrooms and become part of real research environments early in their academic journey.
⏰ Last chance—apply for IAT 2026 before April 13, 2026

A well-versed Marathi news article has been published in our recent publication on research conducted @COoLLabSR, which reports a potentially new pathway of chemical evolution of protocells on prebiotic Earth. Shoutout to Dr Niraja Bapat for her immense help in drafting this..
A short and fun illustration project for a break. Posting after years... Published in @NaturePhysics - https://t.co/wt8THWIYIg.
The main source paper is also a very interesting one- https://t.co/1N6vqPT8gr from Prof Dieter Braun's group.
Did simple fatty acid membranes drive early evolution? https://t.co/6pozlfRsV9
Check out this fun news piece on exciting research done at @COoLLabSR@IISERPune. Now online in @tscimat. Original paper in pinned comment published in Philosophical Transactions B @royalsociety
This work explores multispecies protocell populations, which coexist in the same environmental 'niche ', and delineates how interactions in the backdrop of this diversity could confer functional advantages on some populations in prebiotic settings and drive membrane evolution.

Recent review frm @COoLLabSR led by @Think_SoDa & @PGauri08, n supported by other lab members, got published in @EPJscience. It deals with 'Compartmentalization as a ubiquitous feature of life', wherein we aim to bridge basic membrane research in OoL/synth bio, with biomimetics.
@RailMinIndia A premium train like Howrah- Pune Duranta, is almost 9 hrs late now. We could have arranged different means of transport if there were any prior information about such long delay due to any technical issues. We hope to get a better service from #IndianRailways
A News & Views piece that my dear colleague Elisa and I wrote for a neat piece of work by the Braun, Gerland and @christofmast groups...:) You can access the main article here: https://t.co/38LHnDq1j4
Delighted to share our recent work: "Porphyrin in prebiotic catalysis: Ascertaining a route for the emergence of early metalloporphyrins" @SusovanSarkar7@COoLLabSR@IISERPune which has now been accepted in @ChemBioChem 1/3
