@GrnMtlB0x You cannot use the “bad marketing” and “hate brigade” excuse for every film that doesn’t perform. A movie with a compelling reason to go, like Rogue One, does well at the box office thanks to word of mouth excitement.
Let me start by saying I had fun at this movie. But I knew it wouldn’t draw. Not enough happens to generate word of mouth where people say “you’ve gotta see this, XYZ, happens. This movie is epic!”
The stakes were too low for a no-Jedi Star Wars film.
@GrnMtlB0x 1. It was good.
2. It featured Darth Vader in an epic hallway scene.
3. We didn’t know everyone was going to die prior to seeing the film.
4. It was a direct tie-in to A New Hope. It had a reason for people to want to see it.
Mando being more Mando didn’t sell tickets.
@Superninfreak It’s not even the best Episode or Episode Arc in The Mandalorian! It’s such a weird, unimportant thing.
It’s not needed as a film and it’s not needed for the show.
👌The recipe for “Perfect” Star Wars (for me)…
📖The writing of Andor
🤣The light comedy of Solo
✨The Jedi/Force lore of Ahsoka
🚀The space combat of Rogue One
4 out of 5 of the last Star Wars films didn’t have a lightsaber duel. The Rise Of Skywalker is the only exception
Wild considering the first 7 films all had one
@JonnyTwoBucks Nobody is talking about how good something is. That was never in my post.
But how successful a film does at the box office determines what future films or projects we get. They won’t be Jedi-less and Lightsaber-less films that’s for sure.
@JonnyTwoBucks It’s a fact. Regular people, casuals, don’t pay to see Star Wars standalone films without Jedi and Lightsabers.
Solo and Mando didn’t even combine to come close to Attack of the Clones or The Rise of Skywalker. Combined are at $600 million.
Loved this long Interview of Andor writers Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Beau Willimon, Tom Bissell. Hearing these guys wrote fast but argued with each other on literally everything is why Andor turned out so great. We need more Star Wars written like this!
