It was a great privilege to have been taught by Dr. Etor in Electrical Engineering. He introduced us to a completely new approach to teaching that was quite unfamiliar to us at the time. He taught us Electrical Machines, and I can confidently say that he is one of the best lecturers I have ever had. His passion, knowledge, and unique teaching style made a lasting impression on me.

[BBC News Africa @BBCAfrica]

David Etor, 43, who grew up in Nigeria, only learned to read and write aged 12 and was told as a child that "nothing good will come out of you", but is now a lecturer in electrical and mechanical engineering at the University of Bristol. https://t.co/0eo1s8BjOL

@Om_Codes_ What a journey!

[Ogoyi Thompson @thompsonogoyi]

I think you’re absolutely missing the point. Nobody is denying the work or effort that goes into organising an event. His point is simply that the event could have had better visibility, and don’t you think that is a valid observation?.

Not knowing about an event doesn’t mean someone doesn’t care about the ecosystem, neither does it undermine the work of the organisers. In fact, if someone who is active in the ecosystem didn’t hear about it, that should probably be a good feedback on the visibility of the event, Abi?.

You can disagree with how he expressed himself, but instead of getting defensive or questioning whether he cares about the ecosystem in Nigeria, why not address the actual point he raised and work on making the next event more visible?

[Ogoyi Thompson @thompsonogoyi]

@cal_sosa It’s a family meeting I guess😂

[Ogoyi Thompson @thompsonogoyi]

lol. How exactly was he being rude? He simply made a comment about the lack of publicity surrounding the event. He made a valid point, and you’re yet to actually contradict or address that point. Instead, you’re throwing tantrums and making the conversation about his character. If you disagree with his opinion, there’s a smart way to respond to it.

[MJ ⚡️ @iamMichaeljerry]

I knew I could trust them to handle you properly!

For someone who has been behind backstage sweat and blood for the same event that is the biggest in Nigeria! You were very rude.

If you’re just coming across it first time, there is a smart way to air your opinion or shut the f up.

[Ogoyi Thompson @thompsonogoyi]

Why don’t you guys simply understand his point and use the feedback to improve? He’s pointing out a genuine visibility problem with the event. Instead of getting defensive about how he expressed it, you can acknowledge the gap and work on making the next one better.

Abi, was the meeting meant to be just for family members? 😂

while you are entitled to your opinion, i can only speak from my own experience with sui and its support for builders.

i was part of the @suioncampus team for the last two years and i have seen firsthand @SuiNetwork support hundreds of projects through $1k, $2k and $3k grants.

not every project survived but many are still building today. @Payfrica is a great example.

-@uselinq also received a substantial grant last year that allowed them to expand. they have now processed over $200k in transactions and continue to build.

- last year, sui sponsored three builders from our community to attend basecamp in dubai. they made valuable connections and eventually landed opportunities within the ecosystem.

does @SuiFoundation do everything right? maybe not.

but i think it’s important to acknowledge that things are rarely black and white.

saying sui does noy support builders would simply not match what i have personally experienced.

just sharing my two cents brother. take good care.

1000+ transactions on Talise.

$0.00 in gas paid by users, no friction, just money moving freely.

Sam is such a great guy, humble to the core. Back in 2024, we wanted to introduce Sui Move to students at @suioncampus, and I reached out to him to teach them. Despite his busy schedule, he gladly joined as guest speaker and delivered. Wishing him the best at Anthropic.

[Sam Blackshear @b1ackd0g]

I am leaving Mysten Labs and joining Anthropic to work on defensive security research.

@thompsonogoyi @suioncampus This is how you know that @thompsonogoyi is the king of Nigeria. Sam looks more happy to meet Thompson than the other way round.
