Ng'etichu what exactly is there to celebrate?

You spent over Ksh. 500 million in a constituency with less than 45,000 voters, then managed only 18,000 votes after intimidation, rigging, and weaponizing the criminal justice system to settle political scores.

By 6:30PM yesterday, police officers in Emurua Dikirr were more than the voters themselves.

Today you want to claim South Rift is your stronghold when you cannot command the ground without public resources and heavy police deployment.

Shameful.

Still, thank you Emurua Dikirr residents for speaking with one united voice. They may have manipulated the process, but we showed them dust.

DCP Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua never even stepped foot in Emurua Dikirr and only campaigned through phone calls, yet the support he received has sent a loud message across the country.

I saw someone ask, “What exactly has Edwin Sifuna done in the Senate?”

Fair question.

Because in Kenyan politics, too many leaders are loud on TV and silent in Parliament.

So I checked the record.

So far, Sifuna has tabled 3 Bills and pushed 3 major people-centred motions:

1. Sports (Amendment) Bill
To reform sports governance, improve accountability in sports bodies, and protect athletes from mismanagement.
2. Energy (Amendment) Bill
To address high electricity costs, strengthen regulation in the energy sector, and push for fairer pricing for consumers.

3. Office of the County Printer Bill
To institutionalize county publication of laws and notices, making county governments more transparent and accountable.

And his motions?

1. Abolishing parking fees in hospitals, malls and airports
Because access to hospitals and essential services should not come with punitive charges.
2. Inquiry into deputy governors’ welfare and protection
To address the growing trend of political frustration, humiliation and sidelining of deputy governors.
3. Electricity cost reduction reforms
To push government and regulators to lower the cost of power for households and businesses.

On top of that, he has been active in Senate oversight committees, questioning governors, including Johnson Sakaja, on accountability. He has also submitted several statements in the Senate. And much more is on the way.

This is why some of us support Sifuna.

Not because we are blind.
Not because of party loyalty.
But because we checked the receipts.

Before dismissing him, show us your MP or Senator’s record first.

President Ruto should stop dismissing Kenyans with polished GDP figures, fake growth numbers and fake hustler narratives.

Almost every Kenyan has a story of a relative, friend, or neighbour who was stable two or three years ago but is now struggling to survive. He should leave the podium, go to the ground, and see the real economy....shops closing because rent cannot be paid, businesses dying because customers have no buying power, families skipping basics, and young people losing hope. Go to CBD for instance and see empty shops and stalls.

This tough-headed dismissiveness is exactly what pushed the country into the deadly Finance Bill crisis. Kenyans pleaded, warned, protested, and still the government behaved like citizens were the problem. By the time the climbdown came, families were mourning.

The fact that Oscar Sudi and the people around him are doing well does not mean the economy is okay. Their wealth is not Kenya’s economy. The real economy is in the kiosks, salons, workshops, farms, markets, rental houses, and homes where people are quietly breaking.

Ruto must stop lecturing hungry people about growth. A country is not doing well because those around power are eating. A country is doing well when ordinary people can breathe.
