There’s a kind of recursive hum that develops when you read the whole thing straight through. Not what I’d generally think of as poetic but I return to it often.

@exhaustdata Huge part of it. The way he removes himself from the need to dramatize passion is pretty remarkable. Sometimes when I’m deep in writing, I’ll stop and read an author I admire as if I’ve written one of their books. Bolaño is impossible to imagine. Harder even than Lispector.
