Sheila Masinde: We are taking on a lot of large infrastructural projects. Infrastructure is a good thing but there has been a lot of opacity in how these projects are identified, selected and implemented.

Sheila Masinde: If there was proper information available, there wouldn’t be a lot of mistrust. At the initial phases, Kenyans should be fully involved in understanding the roadmaps of these projects.

Sheila Masinde: We normally find that public participation is very thin and there is little access to information. People cannot participate effectively if they do not have access to information. The government should provide information and erase doubt.

Sheila Masinde: Why aren’t those transporting goods confident enough in the SGR compared to road transport? We need to maximize the use of the SGR so that the revenue generated can help repay the loans.

Sheila Masinde: Parliament has a responsibility to hold the Executive accountable for these projects and ensure Kenyans get value for their money. Parliament must play its oversight role and not allow these issues to continue unchecked.

Sheila Masinde: Parliament is such a critical institution, yet it has been captured, even though it is supposed to provide oversight.

On 30 January 2026, the NIA Coalition submitted a petition to the Public Service Commission seeking clarity and accountability regarding the promotion, and cessation of service of senior public officers.
Today, we welcome the court's decision to nullify the 30 contested promotions. The court found that the @ODPP_KE , failed to demonstrate that the recruitment and promotion process was based on objective merit or that it met the constitutional standards of fairness, equity, and transparency.
