🇧🇪 🎂 Cet autoportrait de 1931 est une fenêtre sur un monde créatif en devenir. On y voit un jeune artiste qui, sans le savoir encore, trace déjà les premiers traits d’un destin graphique singulier. Dans la netteté volontaire du trait, dans cette clarté qui deviendra sa signature, on perçoit déjà une main sûre, un regard observateur des plus novateurs ainsi qu’une façon peu ordinaire de raconter le monde en lignes pures. Revisiter ce croquis aujourd’hui, c’est bien plus que saluer une figure majeure de la bande dessinée. C’est revenir à l’instant fragile et fondateur où Georges Remi devint Hergé ✍️

🇬🇧 🎂 This 1931 self-portrait offers a window into a creative world in the making. It depicts a young artist who, without yet realizing it, was already sketching the first lines of a singular graphic destiny. In the deliberate precision of the line, in the clarity that would later become his signature, one can already perceive a confident hand, an observant and remarkably innovative eye, as well as an uncommon way of telling the world through pure lines. Revisiting this sketch today means far more than paying tribute to a major figure in comic art. It as about returning to that fragile and foundational moment when Geroges Remi became Hergé ✍️

🇧🇪 🌊 Autrefois, les figures de proue n’étaient pas choisies au hasard. Tels des porte-bonheurs sculptés, elles protégeaient les navires contre vents, marées, tempêtes et dangers, tout en affirmant leur force et leur identité. De fait, pour un vaisseau nommé « La Licorne », quoi de plus naturel qu’une… licorne ? Mythique par excellence, la créature ancre instantanément le trois-mâts du chevalier de Hadoque dans l’imaginaire… comme dans la légende ! 🦄

🇬🇧 🌊 In days gone by, figureheads were not chosen at random. Like carved good-luck charms, they protected ships from winds, tides, storms and dangers, whilst asserting their strength and identity. Indeed, for a ship named ‘The Unicorn, what could be more natural than a… unicorn? A creature of pure myth, it instantly anchors the three-masted vessel of Sir Francis Haddock in the imagination… just as in the legend! 🦄
