I think I literally just became a Taylor Swift fan.
Zac Efron too. That was epic. That’s what music is all about.
Yeah, Ellen is bad weird. Her appearance on Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians, Cars, Coffee’ thing was really uncomfortable too.
If ‘Ellen’ ended up being a USAID thing, I wouldn’t be surprised.
They were supposed to sing a cute little song. Instead, Taylor Swift started making fun of the show.
Taylor Swift and Zac Efron walked out with guitars, and Zac joked that he had only just learned how to play. Taylor said she had taught him a few chords and they started playing “Pumped Up Kicks.”
At first, it looked like a normal talk-show bit. They were laughing, trying to remember the chords and messing around with the lyrics.
Then Taylor asked if they could change the words.
That's when the song became something else.
Instead of singing the original lyrics, they started joking about what it was like to be a guest on the show. Taylor sang about always being asked who she was dating and being put into awkward situations. She even brought up the time she thought there was a hidden camera in the bathroom and got so startled that she nearly fell.
The funny part is that they weren't angry about any of it. They just turned it into a song.
And honestly, that's probably why it worked so well. Zac wasn't trying to look like a great guitarist, and Taylor wasn't trying to give some perfect performance. They laughed when they forgot a chord, looked at each other when they weren't sure what came next, and just kept going.
It felt like two people making something up right there.
But underneath the joke, there was a real point. Talk shows often put celebrities in situations where they are expected to laugh, play along and answer whatever comes their way. That's part of the job, but sometimes the joke can get uncomfortable.
Taylor found a pretty clever way to push back without turning the whole thing into a confrontation.
She just sang about it.
That's what makes the clip worth watching again. Not because the guitar playing is amazing or because it's some great musical performance. It's because, for a few minutes, the guests stopped playing the roles the show expected them to play.
They were still joking.
They were just joking on their own terms.
the air quality sucks, the food gives you explosive diarrhea, we have no public transport, medical care is unaffordable, they’re tearing down forests to build AI data centers and I still have to clock in for work

When Donald Trump went to see the Knicks they lost to break a 13 game winning streak. When Taylor Swift went they staged the greatest comeback in NBA playoff history. 🤔🤔🤔
