Hey folks,
I am very excited to release the extended version of War Time Poem - aptly titled War Time Poem (Extended Version) - featuring Nick Llerandi on guitar, Marc Karapetian on bass and Matt Garstka on drums.
The creation of this musical poem is not about trying to portray what it is like to experience war, but rather a way of dealing with it on both an emotional and mental level. The creation was also a way for me to see light at the end of a tunnel - a light I have found through the children who have gone through the firsthand experience of war or grew up in a war-torn environment and are now contributing to society in many fields but specifically through their creations in music and the arts.
War and violence are the most horrific things in the world - an indication of the sick spiritual state of people and their governments and a result of human vices and sins gone unchecked for an extended period from generation to generation. The ultimate result is in an indifference towards each other and the world for that matter because this earth of which we are an inseparable part also feels all the wounds and scars of the bombs.
As naive as you think this might sound, my stance especially as a parent is, first and foremost, that we need to show by example and teach our children about empathy; to care about and for ALL people. Maybe in the process of this we can also learn something about our own vices and sins that have separated us from each other and our common bond as humans.
It’s especially important in our great age of individualism and at worst isolation - to “love our neighbor” and not only ourselves.
My thoughts above are not to present myself as some kind of example - on the contrary I am only writing this to remind myself of all my humanity - which also includes the vices and sins.
Thank you,
Tigran
