Especially with how toxic they were before, SasuSaku needed that in the manga. Novels aren’t enough when most fans only follow the main story.

If major development only exists outside the main story, the audience still experiences it as rushed. Sasuke’s trauma is valid, but Kishimoto skipping the rebuilding phase in manga is why the romance feels unearned.

Sasuke & Sakura skipped that on-screen/manga we go from attempted murder to marriage without seeing them rebuild trust. A forehead poke isn’t enough to replace years of missing development.

Sakura fell for him mostly on looks and a childhood crush, then stayed devoted through years of neglect, betrayal, and attempted murder, with almost no mutual affection until the very end.
