I joined business leaders representing 18 sectors to call for the B.C. government to scrap its planned PST expansion to professional services like geoscientists and engineers.
New taxes are only going to make B.C. even more uncompetitive, and frustrate government’s ambitions to unleash mineral exploration and mining projects as a key driver of our economic prosperity. 🇨🇦⛏️🏔️

BC support great but too much new policy, AME warns
Canada’s mineral sector shows unusual unity, but @AME_bc CEO @toddstonebc warns B.C.’s rapid policy changes are slowing prospectors and juniors and risking the next wave of mine development.

Todd Stone, AME President & CEO, made the following statement on the proposed merger between @AngloAmerican and @TeckResources:
“AME welcomes news of a proposed merger of equals between Anglo American and Teck Resources Ltd.
“The proposed merger brings together world-class mining companies with significant histories and commitments to mineral exploration in Canada.
“Canada’s potential for future responsible mineral development is recognized through Anglo Teck plans to invest at least CAD$300 million (over five years following completion) in critical mineral exploration and technology in Canada. These opportunities include significant development opportunities like the Galore Creek and Schaft Creek projects in Northwestern British Columbia, Canada.
“In addition, British Columbia’s role as a global mineral exploration hub is further bolstered by plans for the new company to be headquartered in Vancouver, BC. This showcases Canada and its importance as a global player in mineral exploration and mining.”
Ahead of BCMA's attendance this week at the 2025 Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, AME President & CEO Todd Stone shared why BC is a top jurisdiction for mineral exploration investment.

An awesome first week in my new role as President & CEO of @AME_BC (Association for Mineral Exploration in Vancouver). Special thanks to AME Board Chair Trish Jacques and the AME team for their warm welcome!
Very sad to hear of the passing of former Premier John Horgan.
He was deeply committed to serving the people of British Columbia, and did so with conviction and authenticity.
While he was a fierce debater and we disagreed on lots of policy, I was always impacted by his humanity and the compassion he had for people … including members on all sides of the BC Legislature.
His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.
I was the Campaign Manager for the Provincial Conservatives in BC.
This morning, I personally took part in counting some of the final ballots in Surrey-Guildford. @ElectionsBC staff were all incredibly diligent in their work and very thorough in ensuring transparency.
I feel confident in their work.
We now await a judicial recount in at least one riding. Regardless of whether we pull that off or even if David Eby wins government by one single vote—this is democracy.
We will have more updates as more information is made available.
For anyone doubting the results from @ElectionsBC - get off twitter and talk to anyone one of us who have scrutineered or worked an election. The process is robust with lots of witnesses.
Don’t like the outcome?
Get back to work and earn more votes next time. #bcpoli
I spent the last two days in a warehouse watching the transcription and counting of mail in ballots. Elections BC staff have been working tirelessly and doing their best within the confines of the legislation that governs their work. Would we have liked mail-ins to be counted closer to E-Day? Sure. But I saw nothing that caused me concern. #bcpoli
I am feeling outraged, and filled with sadness.
I regard my family with love and respect, and am thankful that, as a white male that married into a First Nation family, they welcomed me with open arms. I do not take that for granted, and I try to be respectful of their values and perspectives.
I want to be crystal clear, the comments made by BC Conservative candidate Marina Sapozhnikov regarding indigenous people are reprehensible and I do not condone them or share those views in any way shape or form.
The only way real and meaningful reconciliation can happen is with genuine conversations, shared learnings and mutual respect.
On the eve of my last day as MLA for Kamloops - South Thompson, I want to thank everyone in #Kamloops, our region and across the province who have reached out to me since I announced my decision to step back from elected office, and indeed have supported my family and me for these past 12 years. Serving my community and our amazing province has been the honour of a lifetime!🙏❤️
Saddened by the devastating loss of our iconic and beloved 88 year old Red Bridge in #Kamloops this morning. Drove over it just the other day, ran under it many times.
Calling on the Provincial Gov’t to build a new bridge at this vital location in our community asap. #bcpoli
Proud to present Brenda Prevost and Doug Haughton, with the King Charles III Coronation Medal in Kamloops today.
For Brenda, this medal recognizes her community service, and lifelong focus on the well-being of seniors.
For Doug, this medal recognizes his community service, leadership within BC’s ranching and agricultural sectors, and promotion of sustainable growth and quality of life within the TNRD.
Two selfless, compassionate
and amazing people that are always helping others. Thanks Brenda & Doug!
Yeah he isn’t flip flopping at all 🤦♂️
“Right now, we have to be a leader on this issue… All the other parties that seem to me, in an effort to win votes, are willing to sell their children’s future. I think it’s unacceptable, we won’t do it.”
David Eby, Nov. 18, 2023
Proud to present another incredible community volunteer with a King Charles III Coronation Medal. Steve Quinn in Blue River is a local legend that has spent decades building Blue River and making sure their issues were heard in #Kamloops, Victoria and Ottawa. Congratulations!!!
Just got together with Todd Stone this morning to thank him personally for endorsing our #Kamloops#NorthThompson@Conservative_BC campaign.
Together we can encourage all of our supporters to join with us to beat the #NDP in the #bcpoli election Oct 19th.
Thanks so much Todd
