@RogersHelps Missed the first 10 minutes of the Leaf game because the service intermittently went out. Now I will be inundated with Canada's Most Reliable Internet commercials. Pure garbage.
@City_of_Vaughan Here's a winter tip for you City of Vaughan. Try not to damage people's cars parked in private driveways like your snow plows did in front of my house last night.
I almost am to the point where I admire Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow sitting out the day - a somber, reflective, mournful day on the 1-year anniversary of the October 7th mass murder of Israeli citizens by Hamas.
The Jewish community despises her insipid & absent leadership, & doesn't want her false concern for them, nor her empty platitudes anywhere near them today or tonight. Perhaps she recognizes that, or her arrogance is so stunning she knows that she can attempt to get elected without their support. Either way, it's more clear documentation that her apathy towards the hatred in our streets & subdivisions & schools.....combined with her utter lack of geopolitical acumen to speak with conviction or knowledge on the heartbreak suffered by so many in the past year - Israelis, Palestinians, now the Lebanese...the tears that have welled up so often in my eyes with images & sounds from a war & conflict that seems to have no solution....
I get most emotional when I think of the images I've watched while my children are with me...two bright, idealistic boys who I'd give my life for. I want the Middle East to get fixed....but they're also growing up in a (Metro) Toronto that is uglier & more threatening than we ever imagined. I want better for them - & your kids, as well.
I almost admire Chow's admission of defeat or indifference today that she is out of her league, & nothing to offer the conversation in terms of empathy or a path forward.
You may not like Poilievre, Trudeau, Singh, Ford, Crombie, your local mayor or city councillor....but they recognized the moment, & they're out there today - & some will praise & some will criticize. That's the game, AND the gig.
Show up. You get elected so you show up.
Olivia Chow - missing in action. Toronto won't be able to handle another 26 months of this. If I'm not the first...let me join the initial salvo - she must quit & plan for a successor. This moment is far too big & important with Toronto's future hanging in the balance, & every single wall around us feeling like it's closing in. She didn't plan for this conflict, & people will understand, as with Joe Biden south of the border that it's so important to recognize when the job is too vast for one's capabilities....and this is that.
I will reiterate this call for her transition out of power on the show tomorrow. She's telling us so much with her absence today about what she is capable of.....& far more dangerously, what she isn't.
@labeeb24418 @City_of_Vaughan@StevenDelDuca Um, I have to wonder if this could have been scheduled so that the system is operational during a major snowstorm? The summer perhaps?
@RogersHelps@Hermit4441 Oh ya, and any further talk of takeovers and mergers that puts these clowns in charge of anymore critical technology infrastructure must stop immediately.
@RogersHelps@Hermit4441 Credits? I will be contacting my MP and the CRTC to demand a full public inquiry, the levy of millions of penalties and fines against Rogers and a criminal investigation with the view of and arresting those Rogers executives responsible for this egregious failure.
@RogersHelps An outage of this length and extent cannot happen in 2022. Top that off with a total lack of transparency. I want to see the responsible Rogers execs arrested and criminally charged. Today.
@RogersHelps It would be kind of nice if Rogers would use this cool thing called Twitter to at least say something about the outage that is disrupting the lives of thousands upon thousands of Canadians this morning. It would be so nice to feel like they gave a shit.
