It’s bad luck to rename a boat—but what about a dog? Neighbors moved and gave us their hound which just so happens to be an English lab like Hachi on the right. Welcome Gomer! Not crazy about the name, but after five years, we figure he can keep it.
@Delta having a very hard time tonight getting a normally simple one-hour flight from ATL to Panama City, Fla. The flight’s been delayed four times and the gate’s been changed just as many times. We’re now showing a 1:05 AM boarding time. A Delta rep told us she has no idea why the flight’s been repeatedly delayed. Lots of families with little ones hoping to eventually start their vacations.
Boat car and the Queen Mary. Wade’s Water Whipz rents its Jet Cars near the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California starting at $350. These are not actually amphibious. The real deal is available nearby at WaterCar, one of two amphibious car makers in the U.S.
What are they driving at USC School of Cinematic Arts? My prestigious alma mater prefers this old Ford Transit Connect with an air freshener paying homage to amazing alumnus George Lucas. Question is…does it scare off parking tickets? 🤔
Seeing a lot of natural gas trucks and busses in San Diego this week. This WM stopped near famous Balboa Park and naturally I couldn’t resist taking a shot. WM has the largest nat gas truck fleet in North America with over 12,000 trucks powered by Cummins L9N, ISX12N & X15N.
Fixed! Plastic gear failure is fairly common in this side mirror for the 2007 Toyota Sienna. JB Weld to the rescue! Soldering wires back into place was the biggest challenge. Fold-out feature works again :)
Another Costco in Northwest Florida? This Costco web page showed products at their Lynn Haven warehouse. While there is no Lynn Haven location for Costco, rumors have been flying that one is coming to the area to serve residents in Lynn Haven, Panama City and surrounding cities.
The sunset flotilla at St. Andrews State Park. Nearby boats from Panama City Beach packed with tourists took in amazing view yesterday. Hard to beat seeing a sunset and July 4 fireworks by boat.
Reduced complexity, reduced weight and greater uptime. Cummins proven aftertreatment on their natural gas engines has gotten even better. First up? Air-fuel ratio control.
"That air-fuel ratio control is very important," said Scott Baize, Cummins Inc. Spark Ignition Regional Technical Platform Leader for North America. "Getting the exact right amount of fuel to match the air is important to make sure the catalyst works properly and provides good emissions reduction. We’re reducing NOx by over 99% with that three-way catalyst.”

Probably too complex to levy a kWh tax to help offset the loss in gas tax revenue. In other words, EV owners could get around a tax at a DC fast-charger by charging at home or elsewhere. Too many fronts to fight. Easier to issue a hefty annual fee instead. However, that probably assumes 12K annual mileage or whatever. Too bad for the drivers below that average.
