CEO of the Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA), Australia’s national peak body for aged care and retirement living. My views are my own.
@ACCPAAustralia @AnikaWells So grateful to @AnikaWells for her insights - she could sense the difference in our sector from a year ago, like I can. So much still to do, but we should be proud of the progress we’ve made and continue to make.
Day 2 at #ACCPANC23 has kicked off!
Opening address by our CEO @tom_symondson

@AnikaWells @AgedCareQuality Glad to see a very clear message from both @AnikaWells and the Commission that providers will not be shut down for failing to meet 24/7 nursing where they can prove they are doing everything they can to comply but just can’t find the staff due to the workforce crisis.
The Albanese Government is working with the aged care sector to improve the quality of care for older people.
I recently met the independent @AgedCareQuality to seek assurances about how they’ll be regulating 24/7 nursing and care minutes.
@tom_symondson says, “We welcome @AnikaWells’ acknowledgement this week that some providers will not meet the 1 July deadline to have RNs on site 24/7 and we want to work with the government to ensure residents continue to receive quality care. > https://t.co/FnT0VQbs4g #agedcare
Really fantastic to catch up with @AnikaWells this morning in Parliament. Lots of ground covered not least implementation of 15% work value case and 24/7 Registered Nurses - also got to talk through a range of things covered in our @ACCPAAustralia budget submission.
This is your chance to be a part of the ACCPA team and make meaningful change in the #agedcare sector. #joinourteam

The new Star Rating System will soon be available to view on My Aged Care. ACCPA CEO @tom_symondson says "we're welcoming the release of the star ratings... The very positive news is that we've got 90% of facilities, three stars or above". > https://t.co/kfHTxLH5sJ #agedcare
