There’s a lot to admire about @bphillipsonMP but when I recall what some Labour folk used to say about education secretaries between 2010 and 2024 I do wonder if this is her best ever intervention
It is extraordinary that our Prime Minister has lost his job (probably) to a local politician from Manchester who has been a MP for four days, who did not stand on the 2024 general election manifesto, and is not very well known outside of the North West of England. More analysis at @GBNEWS.
In less intense times: My good friend Lord Brennan of Canton must be wondering if Andy is putting the band back together. No heritage acts here though.
Other than David Attenborough, Andy Burnham is the only Briton who could win a by-election for Labour right now. Well done Andy and his excellent campaign team.
Simon Dubbins has:
Moved Sharon Graham into a u-turn on merging Unite Community with Retired members
Pressured Graham into finally commenting on Reform
Caused a meltdown by pledging not to take the GS salary & to open the books.
All while securing 50+ nominations & counting!
Congratulations to my colleague @CalvinBailey, someone with service, compassion, professionalism and principle at his core.
A great appointment by the PM.
As a former RAF officer, Calvin knows what he’s talking about.

My pledge to you: If elected I will not be taking the General Secretary’s salary or any pay increase. I will open the books to end years of secrecy.
A new start for our union begins with transparency and accountability.

Doesn’t the triumph of Arteta show us that setbacks are not always proof of failure? Sometimes they are the hard schooling before success. He did not chase every shout from the stands. He held his nerve, learned the lessons and built something stronger.
.@Peston: [Does Israel] have a right to exist?
@ZackPolanski: I don’t believe any country has a right to exist
The Green Party leader says getting caught up in semantics about countries’ right to exist results in “gatekeeping”

@kush07_ I’d really recommend having a look at the fan-led review of live and electronic music (and sending to your MP). Has a really powerful intro by @KevinBrennanMP
Summarised it on this week’s podcast https://t.co/h1dskef3mU
