Great to visit our California School for the Blind in Fremont. We are working to expand funding to support student programs, facilities, and the educators and staff who provide world class programs for blind students all across California.

Visited an organization called Beyond Emancipation that provides housing & supports to youth leaving foster care. When I was their director I secured their first $1 million grant to support transitional housing. This year I helped to secure $125 million for homeless teens in CA.

Enjoyed a great visit to Fairmont Elementary School in West Contra Costa Unified. Fairmont offers an incredible full inclusion program and resources for students who speak 37 languages and dialects. Well done to Principal Best and all the educators, staff, parents, and students.

Traveled 7 hours to help the South Monterey County Joint Union High School District celebrate their exit from state receivership. We are working on new legislation to help districts get more revenue to offset declining enrollment and population decline.

Great day at the Davis Joint Unified School District. We provided millions in grants used by the district to lead amazing work such as establishing transitional kindergarten classes and aftercare centers, and a robotics training facility for their award winning robotics team.

Great visit to the Davis Joint Unified School District on the first day of school. Our state has provided them with grants that they have used to build out universal pre school classes and aftercare centers and an award winning robotics program and workshop.

Thanks to our food distribution center staff in Sacramento and Pomona. Truck drivers & warehouse workers delivering for every district - 800 million meals served last school year. Proud to visit the Sacramento Center today and to sponsor CA’s universal school meals legislation.
