This morning, crews responded to a lithium-ion battery fire involving an e-bike in a high-rise on Lawrence Ave. E. Three people were transported to hospital. E-bike battery fires spread rapidly, produce toxic smoke, and pose serious risks to residents and firefighters. #Toronto

40 high school students will spend this summer gaining hands-on experience in firefighting and policing through the new Youth Community Academy. ๐๐๐ฎ
Delivered by the City of Toronto, @Toronto_Fire , @TorontoPolice and @SenecaPoly, the paid program combines classroom learning, practical training and mentorship to help participants build skills, explore career pathways and earn postsecondary credit.
The academy is designed to support youth development, increase awareness of careers in emergency services and create meaningful opportunities for high school students to learn directly from professionals in the field.
We wish all participants a rewarding experience and look forward to seeing the impact they make in their communities and beyond!
