@CalLFC11 Liverpool can absolutely afford a player like Alexia if they decided she is strategically worth it.
So the question for me isn’t really “can we afford her?” it’s why have we collectively convinced ourselves that Liverpool shouldn’t even be in these conversations?
Makes no sense to me that LCL are seemingly allowed to have a free run at Alexia. This is still one of the best players in the world, still at the top of her game, and someone who improves literally every team in the WSL overnight.
A signing that transforms a club on and off the pitch - quality, profile, commercial, everything. Liverpool especially are one of the few clubs in England with the stature to truly maximise a signing like that.
So how have Liverpool convinced themselves they can’t even compete with a newly promoted independent LCL for one of the biggest names in women’s football?
I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.
Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.
As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.
186 appearances to date across two spells. Captain for our back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014. From a little girl with a dream to a Liverpool legend.
An emotional farewell message from @gembon23 ❤️
Struggling to understand the contract situation around Lundgaard.
She signed what was widely reported as a “long-term contract extension” in 2024, so the recent suggestions that her deal expires this summer don’t really add up.
Would be useful if the reliable @BenBocsak can clarify whether that information was accurate
Taylor will improve the current squad’s physical fitness with coaching, but if he wants a truly elite high-intensity possession side, recruitment still matters massively because some players are simply more naturally suited to that football than others. That’s why I still think we need more than “a few” signings.
In opening halves, Liverpool have looked capable of competing with almost every team in the WSL - physically, technically and even in terms of overall football quality. At our best, we’ve probably played some of our best football in years.
@timstillman_ If she’s willing to stay in the WSL, Pelova could genuinely be a great option for Liverpool competing/rotating with Kaposc in a more advanced attacking role.
Gareth Taylor:
“We weren’t great second half. Nor was the referee; I don’t know if it’s a penalty or not but a lot of decisions went against us, a lot of inconsistency with yellow cards for us but not for Brighton. And those moments matter.”
Maybe I’m in the minority but Brighton’s recent form against the big teams doesn’t worry me as much as it seems to worry others.
The first league meeting showed exactly why. When they came to play expansive, football, Liverpool were ripping through them before the late equaliser and some outrageous Nnadozie saves.
The pragmatic Brighton in the return fixture was a far tougher watch. If they come out brave again today, I genuinely fancy Liverpool.
A big afternoon ahead for Liverpool at St Helens.
A record crowd expected, Wembley within touching distance and a chance for this group to create a special chapter of their own. 🔴
The inquest into the death of former Liverpool manager Matt Beard has been delayed after his family told court today they feel Burnley "bullied" him.
They say he named Burnley chairman Alan Pace as the instigator and believe it contributed to his death.

@EugeneSarf79558@Jackwortho99 She’s a solid, who’s fitted in well for where we are right now. But she has clear defensive limitations struggling in 1v1s and duels. Wouldn’t mind keeping her as depth, but we should aim for a elite RB if we want to push on.
I think we may need a couple of top attacking additions this summer. Thomas is likely heading back to Spurs, I don’t see us triggering Roman Haug’s extension, and Kiernan also looks set to leave.
Terland on a cut-price deal and free agent Beth England, could both be smart options depending on how the market develops.
This is possible and feels very likely. Taylor clearly trusts her. She’s very important in our build-up play and fits what he wants from that position.
That said, a lot will depend on City’s valuation and how the market develops this summer.
Personally though, I think we can do better than Risa if we’re aiming to push on
She rejected us two years ago, but things change quickly in football. If Liverpool are willing to let Roman Haug leave this summer, Terland could become a very interesting option. WSL proven, entering her prime, and potentially a smart market opportunity depending on the fee.
Excl: Man Utd will consider selling Terland in the summer if offers meet right valuation. Contract expires in 2027 after club triggered option.
#MUWFC striker would like to stay but club & player not reached agreement over new deal.
