A giant step forward for public banking! Los Angeles City Council votes 12-0 to move forward with a municipal bank. This paves the way for LA to direct resources towards critical priorities that support working families like affordable housing & sustainable infrastructure.

[Trinity Tran @tran_scends]

I chatted with Conan Nolan at @NBCLA about LA’s big step forward on the @publicbankla!

[Public Bank Los Angeles @publicbankla]

Big congrats to our ally Professor Michael McCarthy @its_mccarthy! His book The Master's Tools grew out of his work with Public Bank LA and just won 2 national awards. You can't fix democracy without fixing who controls the money. 🏦 https://t.co/PbNZkrA1SQ

As the HSBC bank whistleblower, I need to say something about Bank of America.

It is called Bank of America. It let money move for the enemies of America.

$5 billion in suspicious transactions unreported. 475 apparent sanctions violations tied to Russia, Iran, narcotics, and terrorism.

$1.2 billion fine. Not one banker charged.

Nothing changes until someone goes to prison.

$2 BILLION in profit. That’s what a public bank would’ve earned California in 2025, using cash the state already holds. Christopher Armitage ran the numbers: $20.1B over 10 years, no new taxes! Every leader should be talking about this.

San Francisco will be deciding on the future of a new #municipal #publicbank. There are good reasons to vote 'Yes'.

Thank you Los Angeles for a packed house tonight for Proposition 40, the California wealth tax.

The American people are sick and tired of massive income and wealth inequality.

Billionaires need to start paying their fair share.

[Trinity Tran @tran_scends]

Tax the billionaires. Redistribute wealth to support CA’s working families. It’s a moral, common sense step.

@BernieSanders and @RoKhanna brought the energy in LA w/ @OBEYGIANT debut art for #YesOn40

‘I’m not taking sides’
during a genocide, you are.
You most definitely are.

CPBA’s @tran_scends breaks it down. CA is the world’s 4th-largest economy, yet we pay billions in interest & fees to Wall Street banks & private investors

North Dakota’s economy is just 1/50th our size. Its public bank returned $335M to the state last year. Imagine our potential!

[CA Public Banking Alliance @capublicbanking]

Tristan Brown of CFT - California Federation of Teachers, repping 120,000+ teachers & educational workers across the state, laid out how workforce housing keeps stalling due to financing gaps banks won't touch. A public bank can make bridge loans to get those projects moving.

[CA Public Banking Alliance @capublicbanking]

Dr. Flo Cofer @Flo4Sacramento lays it out. When capital is redirected toward affordable housing, climate resilience & community investment instead of Wall Street returns, that's a public health strategy.

It's time for a California State Public Bank to fund a healthy future!

Standing room only in 93° heat at our Public Banking Gathering in Sacramento & the room stayed packed. That's what momentum looks like!

Huge thanks to our speakers & co-hosting orgs for making it happen. Sacramento showed up for their communities & our public dollars. More soon!

[Trinity Tran @tran_scends]

Join us in Sacramento on July 23rd for a public banking community gathering! I'll be speaking along with a powerful lineup including Tristan Brown - CA Federation of Teachers, Dr. Flo Cofer - Sacramento Climate Coalition & more!

[CA Public Banking Alliance @capublicbanking]

Join us in Sacramento July 23 to talk building a California State Bank, money that could fund affordable housing & small businesses instead of bank fees.

Hear from CFT, Sacramento Climate Coalition, Poor People's Campaign & CPBA!

CPBA's @tran_scends joins @Shelterforce to talk public banking & state/local community investment breakthroughs: "Nobody thinks their tax dollars should be making Jamie Dimon richer while our streets are crumbling & our neighborhoods are deteriorating."

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted 9-2 Tuesday to place a measure on the November ballot that would be a step towards creating the first city-run public bank in the country!

[Gavin Newsom @GavinNewsom]

It's time for a national billionaires tax and a new social contract.

10% of Americans own two-thirds of the wealth. Wages have stagnated. The cost of living has skyrocketed.

The system is fundamentally broken.

The federal tax code, a corporate code, and an inheritance code were written for a different set of Americans.

It’s time for an economic reset.

[Lazzyyyyyy @em_Lazzy]

Mamdani taxed the rich and suddenly libraries work, potholes get fixed, childcare exists, and workers get paid more.
That's why billionaires are losing it and want him gone!!!

[Trinity Tran @tran_scends]

Great piece from Christopher Armitage: "Public banking belongs at the center of every blue city & state’s legislative agenda for the 2026 & 2027 sessions... it is the only major lever that funds the rest of the agenda rather than competing with it."

“California generates roughly $300 billion in public revenue each year, yet we still pay private banks to finance our own projects. That means billions of dollars are leaving our state year after year." -CPBA's Executive Director @tran_scends
