Cote D'Ivoire's Cheickna Traore, had been upbeat before the 200m final that he would win, and he matched hype with action, beating Botswana's Phaezel Selepe to win the GOLD medal in a time of 20.32s.
Traore has had a championship that he will not forget for a long time.

Team Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮 stunned the favourites to claim gold in the men’s 4x100m relay at #Accra2026, clocking 38.52s with Cheickna Traoré anchoring the team to victory.
Nigeria 🇳🇬 secured silver in 38.70s, while host nation Ghana 🇬🇭 took bronze with 38.74s.
The anchor leg for Cote D'Ivoire was absolutely flying, leaving both Ghana and Nigeria trailing him.
Everyone else felt the African title is between Ghana and Nigeria in the men's 4x100m, but Ivory had other ideas.

8x World Champion Noah Lyles 🇺🇸 and NCAA Champion Cheickna Traore 🇨🇮 are set to go head-to-head in the men’s 300m at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday!
Lyles clocked 31.87 seconds in 2017, setting a world indoor best at that time.

He beat Brandon Miller 🇺🇸 who ran 1:43.15, while Tyrice Taylor 🇯🇲 destroyed the Jamaican Record, running 1:43.74.
Navasky Anderson 🇯🇲 himself who had the record before that, set a PB of 1:44.18 in 4th.
