What an amazing initiative @ibdtweets
Can’t think of anyone better to kick off this series than @AmyOxentenkoMD.
This perspective resonates because it reflects decisions leaders face at every stage.
Depth earns trust, but adaptability sustains relevance.
For early-career leaders, the goal is not to optimize the path too quickly. Build real expertise, then explore adjacent roles, committees, & problems that stretch how you think.
For me it took paying attention to what energized me & where I could add value beyond my title. Those signals matter!
For those further along, the question becomes knowing when to go deeper versus when to widen your scope. That judgment point is where many leaders get stuck.
I’d love to hear established leaders share how they navigated these decisions so trainees and early-career colleagues can learn from those journeys.
I am excited to announce that I am “coming home” to @UNCGastro as Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy Research!
