So deeply saddened to hear of the legendary
👑 LEUITENANT STITCHIE 👑

passing one day before his 62nd birthday

"Sttitchie had had multiple strokes in the last few years, the last of which left him bred ridden" a close friend said.

Stitchie was always a joy to be around, Probably had one of the most uplifting personalities among any artist I have ever met.
I was lucky enough to be the opening act for his concert with Shelly Thunder in Rochester once .. and the trips to and from the radio station was true eye opener into his personality.

Such a great sense of CLEAN humor and a genuine down to earth human being. It wasn't a surprise to me when he decided he would only make Gospel Reggae and Dancehall cuz he mentioned God a lot. Always giving thanks and praise.

The news of his passing arrives one day after the news of the Calypso icon MIGHTY SPARROW's passing.

Two great story tellers ..

STITCHIE may not have been the first Dancehall Deejay to tell stories, but he was one of it's BEST and definitely most prominent and lyrical in the digital era.

He was signed to ATLANTIC RECORDS as the first of HIS genertaion of DJ's. The album didn't do well because Steely & Cleavie went for a softer sound as opposed to what we were hearing from Jammy's, Techniques, Redman labels at the time.

The label released 2 more albums from him every other years "Wild Jamaican Romances" (1991) Rude Boy (1993) and when he "came back" fully to Dancehall he immedialtey went back to Jammy's and recorded one of his best works GHETTO SOLDIER (1994) . There was one more "secular" album BANGARANG to follow in
But STICTHIE was still STITCHIE.
Always telling a story with intelligence and a purpose.
