Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Evaleen Mitei, MBS, joined education sector leaders at the Kenya Music Festival (KMF) 2026 held at Kibabii University, Bungoma.

She attended the event alongside the Principal Secretary, State Department for Higher Education and Research, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala; Vice Chancellor, Alupe University, Prof. Peter Barasa; Chairman, Kenya Music Festival, Dr. Frederick Ngala, MBS, OGW; Director, Field Coordination and Co-Curricular Activities, Mr. Nelson M. Sifuna; and members of the KMF National Executive Committee, among other distinguished guests.

The festival is being held under the theme: “Enhancing the Creativity Economy Through Knowledge, Skills and Artistic Production for Sustainable Development.”

The event brought together education stakeholders, learners, teachers, and sponsors to celebrate Kenya’s rich cultural heritage and the transformative role of music and the performing arts in education.

TSC continues to recognize and support co-curricular activities as a vital component of education, providing learners with opportunities to nurture their talents, creativity, discipline, confidence, and overall holistic development.

TSC Choir Shines at KMF 2026 in Bungoma County

The TSC Choir proudly participated in the 2026 Kenya Music Festival (KMF) held at Kibabii University, Bungoma County, showcasing exceptional talent, creativity and teamwork.

Held under the theme, “Enhancing the Creativity Economy Through Knowledge, Skills and Artistic Production for Sustainable Development,” the festival provided a vibrant platform for celebrating the role of music and the performing arts in nurturing talent, promoting cultural heritage, and advancing the creative economy.

Congratulations to the TSC Choir for representing the Commission with passion, dedication and excellence. The choir competed in 14 categories, emerging position one in six classes, with the patriotic song performance advancing to a higher level of competition.

TSC remains committed to supporting co-curricular activities that nurture talent, foster creativity and contribute to the holistic development of learners and educators alike.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 49th KESSHA Annual Conference 2026 today, TSC Chairman Dr. Jamleck Muturi John, EBS, reaffirmed the Government’s unwavering commitment to transforming education through increased funding, teacher promotions and the full implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE).

He further emphasized the critical role of principals in strengthening schools, fostering collaborative leadership, and nurturing competencies that prepare learners for a dynamic future.

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Julius Migos Ogamba, Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. John Lekakeny Ololtuaa, Principal Secretary for Basic Education and members of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education Hon. Peter Ochieng Orero (MP, Kibra) and Hon. Harrison Garama Kombe (MP, Magarini) alongside other distinguished stakeholders from across the education sector.

During her address at the 49th KESSHA Annual Conference 2026 held in Mombasa, TSC Ag. CEO, Ms. Evaleen Mitei, MBS, underscored the central role of education as a powerful driver of national development, social transformation, and economic growth.
