The adoption of resolution A/80/L.104 to “Correct the #Map”, led by #Togo and the @AfricanUnion, is phenomenal!
A more accurate depiction of #Africa highlights the continent's vast resources, population of over 1.5 billion, and growing economic and geopolitical significance.
Congratulations to the delegation of #Togo 🇹🇬 and the Africa Group on the adoption this morning by the #UNGA of resolution A/80/L.104, “Correct the Map.”
First endorsed by the African Union Assembly in February and officially passed at the United Nations today, this @_AfricanUnion initiative marks a historic step toward accurate and equitable global cartographic representation.
For centuries, the Mercator projection distorted global geography, shrinking Africa to the size of Greenland when our continent is actually 14 times larger. Today’s resolution promotes equal-area maps like Equal Earth across classrooms, media, and international institutions ensuring the world map finally reflects Africa’s true scale, weight, and place in the world.
There are so many ride-hailing companies on the continent (LEFA, Yango, Bolt, Move, etc.) that I’m not sure this will have much impact on service delivery. Every country basically has its own solution(s) that I wonder if the market was not too crowded for uber.
Ride-hailing giant Uber pulls out of Nigeria🇳🇬 and Uganda🇺🇬, cuts 3,300 jobs as it pivots to a driverless future
Uber is pulling out of Nigeria🇳🇬 and Uganda🇺🇬 as the ride-hailing giant restructures its global operations, cuts about 3,300 jobs and shifts more investment toward autonomous vehicles and robotaxis.
The one thing about the Namibia House on clubhouse is that we come together to support each other in times of need! In a few hours, members contributed over N$10,000 to honour Tate Lamech, who recently passed away. Tangi Tate Lamech. Vululukwa no ombili.

Tate Lamech was a constant regular in the Namibia House on clubhouse rooms. He rarely if ever missed the breakfast show every morning and was not shy to come to the stage to share or just have a little fun. Rest well Tate Lamech. Rest peacefully.
His book “Never Follow the Wolf: The Autobiography of a Namibian Freedom Fighter” was one of the best autobiography I’ve read. Twekupandula Tatekulu. Rest peacefully.

Such an intellectually lazy, reductionist and clickbait analysis….“Zambia is Africa's second-largest copper producer, a metal key to the energy transition….” I thought @AJEnglish would at least know better.
Zambia's Hakainde Hichilema has won re-election with 60 percent of the vote, after the count was briefly halted by attacks on election officials. Zambia is Africa's second-largest copper producer, a metal key to the energy transition, contested by China and the US.
Yes, sex education for boys and girls is necessary to address teen pregnancy. However it is also time that we as a country talk about the responsibility of adult men who prey on girls that are in high school all the way to university?
CONCERNED: Deputy minister of education Dino Ballotti has raised an alarm over teenage pregnancies in the Kavango East region, describing the situation as “really bad” and saying the region “cannot be number one for most teenage pregnancies”. He also said the boy child must be held accountable.
A Namibian Sun report published in June revealed that 225 learner pregnancies were recorded in Kavango East during the first term of 2026, from January to April. Ballotti said the figure is “not acceptable” and called for stronger conversations on sex education.
Ballotti also questioned why condoms were no longer being provided in schools, calling for more open discussions with parents and learners on safe sex.
