Soccer twitter is great, I am sad I wasn't plugged into it previously. Fav a few tweets, share a few dumb opinions, and now my timeline is like:
Russell Westbrook and DK Metcalf could defeat Brazil's current squad with 6 months of training, particularly since Brazil is no longer a team of creative Catholic heathens; also the Americans have 11 Erling Haalands in every mid-size Ohio town but many of them will never make it because they have to pay club fees so they're instead forced to play power forward in the MAC, and America's loudest soccer voice is like "Shareholders see this as a good return on an investment, if you disagree you are woke."
The long wait for a 4,000+ passing yards season for a Bears QB almost ended in 2025
Will Caleb Williams deliver it in '26?

Why do we care so much about where our team plays?
@tweetsfromben tells us why Soldier Field more than just facilities for the Bears — it’s about the view, the history, the feeling of being part of Chicago.

@CYMROPORT@lukey_jt91 Define “follows England”. You’ve seriously never seen a Welsh person who loves football, supports an English club, doesn’t go to Wales games but wants Wales to win but in a tournament likes to see England do well?
@CYMROPORT@lukey_jt91 I’m implying that people with an affinity for English clubs are closer to having an affinity with the national team as well. People can support who they like. Geography is only one aspect of it. I’ve met people who identify as English but support a Welsh club
@joshuapsjones Also the idea he made “the entire Saudi league relevant”. It gets crowds worse than non league and no one watches it internationally on a regular basis
@huskybill2611 I think the Rams for exactly the same reasons you picked the Lions. Fascinating coach, ultra competitive division with teams that don’t like each other, championship-calibre roster and a point to prove after last year
@cfbfletch@TayyibAbu1 It’s like saying an elite goalie is a one trick pony because he basically saves every single shot. Or a cornerback who no QB will throw at. If you’re so good at what you do that you are the most dangerous in the game I think that’s pretty good
