United against bosses @NorthumbriaUni
who want to rip off pay and pensions, rip up contracts, and rip us out of national bargaining.
United for a better future, for staff, our university, our students, our community. Join us.
With today's devastating news of another 190 jobs to go at Dundee University, a timely debate on Thursday from @MaggieChapman on 'Sustaining Jobs and Securing the Future of Scotland's Universities'. #SaveHE#StopTheCuts https://t.co/Fnwh5I3QC2
Goldsmiths often shares the output of its staff to celebrate its reputation. So I’m very much looking forward to them circulating this fantastic article from @phaisie about the strike at @GoldsmithsUoL and the wider crisis of UK higher education https://t.co/a95snjt3lJ
Universities up and down the UK are quietly moving staff out of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme to cut costs.
@ChristineBlower co-chair of our Parliamentary Group, put it straight to the government. Watch their non-answer.
Pensions aren’t a cost cutting exercise. They’re staff’s terms and conditions. Hands off.

Congratulations to @ucu Sheffield Hallam who have stopped management's threats of moving staff to a subsidiary company on MUCH worse terms and conditions
This is a victory for everyone in UK Higher Education
👏👏👏👏
Meanwhile, management @NorthumbriaUni are pressing on with unpopular and very costly plans to cut the pay of staff who stay in @TPScheme.
Their line was always 'could be worse...' - well, turns out it couldn't.

Hence:
Following sustained strike action from @UCUHallam members, management will no longer be forcing staff into a subsidiary company and out of their pension scheme.
This decision is testament to the dedication and hard work of our members.
But the dispute has not been resolved as jobs are still at risk.
The university must now do the right thing and rule out any compulsory redundancies.
BREAKING: Stanford University graduates staged a walkout during Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s keynote address at commencement Sunday.
