A major milestone in strengthening Uganda’s industrial power infrastructure. UETCL has received three 80MVA transformers destined for the Kabalega Substation at the Hoima Industrial Park.
These critical assets will enhance power reliability and capacity to support strategic national investments in the Albertine region.
Once installed, the transformers will provide the backbone of the electrical infrastructure required to power the @EACOP_, petrochemical industries, and other industrial installations, further advancing Uganda’s journey towards industrialisation, energy security, and economic transformation.
Over the past two months in my new role at @UEDCLTD, one priority has shaped our work: delivering the reliable electricity our customers expect and deserve.
Reliable electricity is about much more than keeping the lights on. It gives businesses the confidence to invest, enables essential services to operate without interruption, and helps families go about their daily lives with greater certainty. It is also fundamental to Uganda's economic growth and development.
I know many of our customers have experienced unreliable power supply. Those frustrations are real and rebuilding confidence will require consistent improvements across our network. Every day, our teams are focused on strengthening the system through better planning, investment and operational excellence. We know there is still work ahead, but every upgrade, investment and improvement brings us closer to delivering the reliable service our customers expect and deserve.
The recent commissioning of the Maya integration lines along the Masaka Road corridor is one example. The project, delivered through a partnership between UEDCL and @uetcl, was implemented under UEDCL's approved capital investment programme with the support of the Electricity Regulatory Authority (@ERA_Uganda) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (@MEMD_Uganda). By strengthening supply and reducing reliance on a single source, the project improves network resilience and reliability for the communities we serve.
As demand for electricity continues to grow, so must our ambition. We remain committed to investing in infrastructure, modernising our network and delivering better outcomes for the people and businesses that depend on us.
I look forward to using this platform to share more about the work we are doing across UEDCL, the progress we are making, and the dedicated people behind it.
@DavidTumusiime@uetcl_ceo@UEDCLTD Hi David, thanks for your patience. The Mutundwe Substation was successfully re-energized at 6:00 pm. UEDCL is currently undertaking phased restoration of the affected distribution lines, so power may be restored at different times. Regards.
Takeoff structures and lines off Buloba Substation in Maya evacuating power to Mitala Maria and Masaka Road corridor as well as to Mutundwe for consumers in Busega, Nakawuka, Buddo and the vicinity.
#UEDCLinService together with our counterparts @uetcl to strengthen power reliability and minimize interruptions for our customers.

Well said, Daniel. @wekesa_amos and team are more than welcome to visit UETCL for a guided tour and a firsthand look at how we keep Uganda’s national electricity grid running. It’s a great opportunity to inspire young minds and give them a practical appreciation of the critical work that powers the country.
Sitting Wekesa Jr. next to the ED is communicating a lot to the young lad.
All the best in his future.
Amos is setting a stage for the boy to discover himself and later serve the country.
I am happy that UEDCL welcomed such engagements because it opens up people's minds to the truth and realities on ground.
You need to arrange similar engagements with @uetcl, @UegclOfficial and @ERA_Uganda
