The mission of The University of Iowa Labor Center is to provide educational programs and research support to Iowa’s working people and their organizations.
We provide high-quality, noncredit education on a wide range of topics in the areas of legal rights and leadership development skills. Last year, we delivered 92 programs reaching 2,133 workers. 2/2
The UI Labor Center designs, develops, and delivers labor education programs for working people on the @uiowa campus as well as in community spaces, union halls, and other locations across Iowa and occasionally online. 1/2
We were also excited to welcome meatpacking workers from five states who attended the Meatpacking Health and Safety Conference we co-hosted with the United Food and Commercial Workers (@UFCW) in November. 3/3
Just in the past six months, the UI Labor Center has welcomed participants from 29 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico to our leadership schools on the @uiowa campus. 1/3
