Under #UNDPinPakistan’s National Governance Programme, supported by @FCDOGovUK@FCDOGovUK, @Le@LeghariMohsin, Former Senator and Water Governance Expert, on provincial water sharing, highlighting three priorities:
🏛️ Strengthening Parliamentarians’ role in shaping water governance
🔧 Stronger technical support for water governance institutions
📏 More accurate water data that everyone can trust
Because better water governance means a more resilient Pakistan. 🌱
What happens when there is too much water or too little? For 259.6 million Pakistanis, water insecurity is an everyday reality.
@SecretariatSDGs and #UNDPinPakistan convened a parliamentary seminar on Water Governance to explore what works and how local, low-cost solutions can reach more people.
Government institutions, think tanks and development partners came together to discuss practical ways to improve access to safe, reliable water and reduce the impacts of floods and water scarcity.
"The truest measure of water governance is found in the household that can count on clean water when it turns the tap, and in the family that sleeps through the monsoon without fear."
Dr. @SamuelRizk, Resident Representative #UNDPinPakistan, underlined how water shapes lives in Pakistan in his opening remarks, stressing the role of governance and effective service delivery with regard to water security.
