Through HerAfCFTA, UNDP supported SMEDAN’s Garment and Textile Workshop with a 120 kVA solar mini-grid, giving entrepreneurs the confidence to accept larger orders, meet deadlines and reduce production costs.

With dependable clean energy, businesses can plan better, produce consistently and prepare to compete in markets across Africa.

This is what trade readiness looks like: practical infrastructure creating real opportunities for entrepreneurs.

We broke ground for the Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE), a $12 million investment in Nigeria's entrepreneurs and the businesses they are building.

ACE will provide the infrastructure, training and support entrepreneurs need to develop their ideas, build stronger businesses and scale for sustainable growth.

We are grateful to KOICA (@KorEmbNigeria), the Government of Korea, UNDP (@UNDPNigeria) and all our other partners for their support in bringing this important project to life.

This is an investment in entrepreneurship, innovation and the next generation of Nigerian businesses.

I welcome the commencement of construction of the $12 million Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship, being developed at the SMEDAN Industrial Development Centre in Idu, Abuja, with support from the Republic of Korea through KOICA @KorEmbNigeria and in partnership with SMEDAN @SMEDANGov and UNDP @UNDPNigeria.

The Centre will support the wider MSME ecosystem by providing workspaces, digital infrastructure, training, incubation and business support for entrepreneurs, start-ups and growing businesses.

It will begin with 500 aspiring entrepreneurs, 400 start-ups and 1,500 MSMEs.

As RC/HC a.i., I was honored to join @UN Deputy Secretary-General @AminaJMohammed and members of the @UN_Nigeria Country Team on a mission to both states, engaging leaders, women and young innovators to understand their priorities and advance stronger, state-led collaboration.

The mission reinforced a coherent approach, aligning UN support across health, gender equality, food systems, livelihoods and enterprise with locally defined priorities.
