The University of New York Tirana, in collaboration with the Turkish Historical Society, hosted the conference “A Century of Turkish-Albanian Relations: From the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations to the Present Day.”

The conference brought together academics, researchers, experts, and institutional representatives to reflect on the historical, diplomatic, cultural, and academic development of the relationship between Türkiye and Albania over the past century.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from the academic and institutional sphere, including H.E. Barış Ceyhun Erciyes, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Albania, who highlighted the broad and comprehensive nature of Turkish-Albanian relations and emphasized the importance of this conference in deepening cooperation between the two countries.

Among the honored guests was also Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Balcı, Secretary General of the Inter-University Council, and Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, Rector of Gazi University, together with respected academics and representatives from institutions in Türkiye and Albania.

Throughout the conference, participants explored different dimensions of Turkish-Albanian relations, from the establishment of diplomatic ties to current cooperation in education, culture, science, and diplomacy.

This academic gathering served as an important platform for dialogue, research exchange, and institutional collaboration, while also highlighting the shared historical heritage and future perspectives between two friendly countries.

Strengthening Academic Excellence
