Dave Crisostomo, our Aquaponics expert, had an eye-opening experience at the "Daak แธดusteeyรญ - Our Way of Life by the Sea" conference in Sitka, Alaska. Witnessing the Sitka tribe's deep connection to the sea sparked a renewed appreciation for our Chamoru heritage.
UOG Sea Grant sea turtle biologists Addie Ferguson and Raianne Quichocho assisted the NOAA Fisheriesโ PIFSC Marine Turtle Biology and Assessment Program team in satellite tagging and releasing 6 green sea turtles off the coast of Guam.

Our team at UOG Center for Island Sustainability & Sea Grant welcomed 52 Merizo Martyr Memorial School students (grades K-5) for a tour of our aquaponics and aquaculture work site at the UOG CNAS Aquapark and our CIS plant nurseries, featuring endangered and native species.
โWith the Local2030 Islands Network and University of Hawaii Sea Grant, we wanted to provide opportunities for workforce development for communities throughout our region,โ said Austin Shelton. โWe are proud of this cohort, doing their part to advance Green Growth in Micronesia.โ
Attendees of the Micronesian Islands Forum took a tour of our Guam Restoration of Watersheds Initiative work site during their field visit day! Representatives from all over Micronesia shared ideas and took notes with our restoration team.
Training has begun for the Community Based Aquaculture Systems (CBAS). The program is led by UOG SG Aquaponics Specialist David Crisostomo and is in partnership with the UOG CNAS Aquapark and the Office of the Governor!
