ጤና ይስጥልኝ: ስሜ ኤርቪን ማሲንጋ ይባላል። በኢትዮጵያ ፌዴራላዊ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሪፐብሊክ የአሜሪካ አምባሳደር ሆኜ ሳገለግል ክብር ይሰማኛል።
አሜሪካና ኢትዮጵያ የ120 ዓመታት የጋራ መከባበርና ትብብርላይ የተመሠረተ የረጅም ጊዜ አጋርነት አላቸው።
ዛሬ እዚህ የተገኘሁት ስለ አሜሪካ ቪዛ ለማብራራት ነው። ሴክረተሪ ሩቢዮ እንደገለጹት ቪዛ መብት ሳይሆን ልዪ ጥቅም ነው። ይህ ልዩ ጥቅም የሚሰጠውም ለተወሰነ ዓላማ ብቻ ነው። ቪዛው የተሰጠበትን የጉዞ ዓላማ አለማክበር ከባድ መዘዞችን ያስከትላል።
ለማንኛውም ወደ አሜሪካ ለሚጓዝ መንገደኛ በጣም አስፈላጊ ከሆኑት እና ብዙ ጊዜ በተሳሳተ ትርጉም ከሚረዱት መስፈርቶች አንዱ የአሜሪካ ቪዛ ሕግጋትን ማክበር ነው።
የአሜሪካ ጉምሩክና ድንበር ጥበቃ ማንኛውም የውጭ አገር ዜጋ በአሜሪካ ውስጥ እንዲቆይ የሚፈቀ
ድለትን የጊዜ ገደብ ይወስናል። ከተፈቀደው የጊዜ ገደብ በላይ መቆየት በይቅርታ አይታለፍም።
ከተፈቀደልዎ የቆይታ ጊዜ በላይ በአሜሪካ ውስጥ መቆየት የሚያስከትላቸው መዘዞች የቪዛ መሠረዝን፣ ከአገር መባረርን እና ለወደፊት የቪዛ ጥያቄ ብቁ አለመሆንን ያካትታሉ።
በተጨማሪም የተሰጠዎን ቪዛ በአግባቡ አለመጠቀምዎ ወደፊት ለኢትዮጵያውያን ተጓዦች ቪዛ ለማግኘት አስቸጋሪ ያደርግባቸዋል። የአሜሪካ ዜጎች የኢትዮጵያን የቪዛ ሕግጋቶች እንዲያከብሩና የቆይታ ጊዜያቸውንም እንዳያሳልፉ አጥብቄ እንዳሳሰብኩት ሁሉ በአሜሪካ ቪዛ ከቆይታ ጊዜያችሁ በላይ ባለመቆየት ኢትዮጵያዊ ወገኖቻቹን አግዙ!
በአሜሪካ ውስጥ ያልተፈቀደሎትን የሕዝብ ጥቅም ተጋሪ አይሁኑ። ይህ ምን ማለት ነው? ፕሬዝዳንት ትራምፕ ወደ አሜሪካ የሚጓዙ ማናቸውንም መንገደኞች ለነዋሪነትም ሆነ ለንግድ ወይም ለቱሪዝም ለአጭር ጊዜ የሚቆዩ ሰዎች በገንዘብ ራሳቸውን የቻሉ መሆን እንዳለባቸው በግልጽ አስታውቀዋል። ይህም የአሜሪካ ዜጎች የሚያገኟቸውን የሕዝብ ጥቅማጥቅሞች ለመጠበቅ ይረዳል።
ወደ አሜሪካ ለአጭር ጊዜ በቱሪስትነት ወይም የሕጋዊ ቋሚ ነዋሪ ወይም የአሜሪካ ዜጋ የቤተሰብ አባል በመሆን ለሚያደርጉት ጉዞ የሕክምና ወጪዎችን ጨምሮ ሁሉንም ሊከሰቱ የሚችሉ ወጪዎችን ለመሸፈን የሚያስችል በቂ የገንዘብ አቅም እንዳለዎት ያረጋግጡ።
ይህም ለአሜሪካ ዜጎች የተዘጋጁ የሕዝብ ጥቅማጥቅሞችን ለመጠበቅ ይረዳል። የአሜሪካ የሕዝብ ጥቅማጥቅሞችን አላግባብ መጠቀም ፕሬዝዳንቱ ኢትዮጵያን ጨምሮ ለ75 አገራት ይሰጥ የነበረው የነዋሪነት ቪዛ እንዲቆም በቅርቡ ላሳለፉት ውሳኔ አንዱ ምክንያት ነበር።
ሕጋዊ ጉዞን ለማመቻት ያለን ቁርጠኝነት የፀና ቢሆንም ሕግጋትን አለማክበር ግን ለድርድር የሚቀርብ ጉዳይአይደለም። ስለተረዳችሁኝ አመሰግናለሁ።

Ambassador Massinga co-chaired a Public-Private Dialogue in Addis Ababa on July 23, bringing together the EIC, Ethiopian government ministries, and AmCham Ethiopia to advance commercial diplomacy and expand market access for U.S. companies.
Ambassador Massinga stressed that a transparent, predictable business environment is key to unlocking greater U.S. investment, and called on the EIC and private sector to develop a targeted action plan to resolve business bottlenecks.
This results-driven partnership reflects the U.S. commitment to accelerating Ethiopia's economic transformation and delivering shared prosperity for both nations.

During the opening of #Ethiopia's newest American Space at @HawassaUniverst (HU), Ambassador Massinga met with university President Dr. Chirotaw Ayele. They exchanged ideas on sustaining and growing academic cooperation between the United States and Ethiopia, including the ongoing HU partnership with leading U.S. universities on malaria research. HU’s Malaria and Other Vector-Borne Diseases Research Center spearheads interdisciplinary research and specialized training focused on malaria, vector-borne infections, and neglected tropical diseases, helping to keep Americans and Ethiopians safe from health threats. #USinEthiopia

The U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with
@HawassaUniverst, is proud to announce the opening of American Space Hawassa.
Ambassador Massinga, Sidama Vice President Beyene Barasa, and University President Dr. Chirotaw Ayele cut the ribbon on July 21 to formally open the space.
“This space is free to visit and open to all,” said Ambassador Massinga. “American Corners are a place for learning, dialogue, and above all, the free exchange of ideas.”
At the American Space, Ambassador Massing chatted with alumni of U.S. Embassy exchange programs, where he heard about how skills learned during their programs have helped them develop in work and studies.

While Argentina and Spain were preparing for The FIFA World Cup 2026 Final in New York/New Jersey, the U.S. Embassy soccer team played a soccer match against the 2026 SelectUSA Ethiopia Delegation this weekend in Addis Ababa! Ambassador Massinga officiated the match that brought together embassy staff and Ethiopian entrepreneurs in a friendly match to build closer ties. Ambassador Massinga arrived in Hawassa today and met with Sidama Region President Desta Ledamo and Hawassa Deputy Mayor Agana Neto. Sidama is known for its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and expanding investment climate that highlights the results of sustained peace and stability. During his trip, the Ambassador met with the Sidama Region Political Parties Joint Council for an open exchange on building inclusive political participation. The Ambassador and regional leaders discussed several topics of mutual interest: the recent federal elections; Ethiopia’s national dialogue process; and Sidama's growing tourism sector as well as its economic outlook. Ambassador Massinga toured TB services at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Referral Hospital last Thursday. Through the $1.466 billion Bilateral Health MOU signed with the Government of Ethiopia in December 2025, the United States provides targeted, temporary lifesaving assistance for TB prevention, care, and treatment. With a treatment success rate exceeding 90%, this program builds Ethiopian ownership of its health systems – reducing long-term reliance on U.S. assistance while protecting Americans from global health threats. By requiring performance and local co-investment, we are building a more self-sufficient Ethiopia while protecting Americans from global health threats and reducing reliance on U.S. assistance. #USinEthiopia

Ambassador Massinga visited Gondar and met with local and regional officials to talk about this iconic city and all it has to offer – from its rich history and UNESCO World Heritage status to its role as a commercial hub and home to the University of Gondar.
The Ambassador discussed prospects for peace and the possible opportunities ahead for U.S.-Ethiopian trade and investment.
No trip to Gondor would be complete without a tour of the famous Fasil Castle, the 17th-century fortress that earned Gondar the nickname "Camelot of Africa."

Ambassador Massinga visited the Tigray Region to reaffirm the United States’ commitment to peace, stability, and humanitarian recovery. 
During his visit, the Ambassador met with humanitarian implementers delivering U.S. supported life-saving assistance, emphasizing the need for lasting peace and stability to ensure recipient communities transition away from emergency relief toward long-term self-reliance. 
He also met with political and civil society leaders to stress the urgent need for dialogue and the full implementation of COHA to secure lasting stability and prevent further conflict in the region.
