Local 5795 in Labrador City came to the rescue last weekend.
After the company stopped hosting the traditional Family Day, the Steelworkers stepped in. The event was just too important to the community and especially the kids, so the Local hosted the event itself.
Fun times!
Thanks to USW and SOAR members, their families, and employers in Cambridge, the South Central Ontario Area Council packed and delivered 400 backpacks filled with school supplies to local students.
As Marty says: We need stronger Buy Canadian procurement and investments that create demand for Canadian steel, aluminum, wood, copper and other Canadian-made products.

The 46 members are standing strong for job security, retirement savings, sick days and workplace rights.
