The U.S. Consulate General Karachi, in partnership with the TDF MagnifiScience Centre and the The Dawood Foundation, hosted a screening of Apollo 13 under the American Film Showcase program.

The event brought students together to explore innovation, teamwork, resilience, and American excellence in space exploration.

Did you know? In 1969, Apollo 11 made history when NASA astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon.

And Karachi has its own connection to the Apollo story: a lunar rock collected during NASA’s Apollo 17 mission was presented to the people of Pakistan in 1973 and is displayed at the National Museum of Pakistan in Karachi.

This week, the U.S. Consulate General Karachi hosted “Freedom 250: The American Brand,” a special reception celebrating America’s milestone.

The evening brought together leaders from across government, business, academia, civil society, media, and the diplomatic community to celebrate American innovation, enterprise, and creativity—and the enduring ties between the United States and Pakistan.

With more than 80 U.S. firms operating in Pakistan and U.S.-Pakistan trade surpassing $11 billion in goods and services last year, our growing commercial ties continue to benefit both countries.

Chief Guest Syed Awais Qadir Shah, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, spoke about how much this partnership has shaped Sindh through education, economic opportunity, and cultural exchange.

This week, Lincoln Corner Karachi celebrated the graduates of its U.S. History Course. The timing couldn't be better: this year's course wrapped up as the United States marks 250 years of independence.

“Independence in 1776 was only the beginning,” said Public Affairs Officer Sean McIntosh, connecting America's founding to its pioneering drive, from the industrial era to today's entrepreneurship and tech boom.
