I was also delighted to spend time with fellow members of the diplomatic corps, including @IrlEmbAthens 🇮🇪 Ambassador Ciara O’Floinn, Ambassador of Georgia 🇬🇪 Levan Beridze, and @SRBinGreece 🇷🇸 Ambassador Nikola Nedeljković.

The U.S. Mission to Greece reminds U.S. citizen travelers of the heightened risk of wildfires throughout the country. U.S. citizens should remain vigilant, especially when traveling to or residing in areas with elevated fire risk. Wildfires may cause disruptions, including road closures, power outages, and poor air quality. Areas near wildfires may be subject to evacuation orders by the Greek authorities.

I was deeply moved to visit the Ormylia Foundation and Monastery this week. I met with their dedicated volunteers, including Abbot Elisaios, Dr. Doumas, Brother Charlie, and the remarkable Reverend Mother Nikodimi and her sisters.

Their work healing bodies through the Medical Center’s life-saving screenings and nurturing souls through faith is a beautiful example of compassion in action. I am grateful for the partnership between the United States and this extraordinary community. 🇺🇸🇬🇷

It was wonderful to connect with Hall-of-Famer @EmmittSmith22 this weekend, a fellow Floridian and one of the @NFL’s greatest running backs of all time! With the expansion of the @NFL Global Markets Program to Greece last year, American football is finding a new home and new fans who share our passion for sports and values like teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. I look forward to seeing flag football enjoy the global spotlight as we count down to its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

Worldwide Caution: Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation.

Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise caution and heightened vigilance and should be prepared for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions. Some airlines in the region have postponed resumption of earlier flight schedules; others have cancelled some routes.

U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.

Americans outside the Middle East should reconsider travel to and through the region. Americans traveling in or through the region should check with their air carriers to make sure their flights are still scheduled. Contact your airline directly for flight change details if your flight is affected.

At the Ministry of Citizen Protection yesterday, our two nations reaffirmed a shared commitment through the signing of a Letter of Intent and a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in the fight against transnational criminal organizations and enhancing the security of international travel. Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Strategy, Policy, & Plans @the_roblaw and U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Josh Huck also met with Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis @chrisochoidis to discuss ongoing challenges and emerging threats and explored opportunities to deepen information sharing, joint training, and operational collaboration.
