🧊+🧊=🛫 Ice accumulation on aircraft, wind turbines and power infrastructure can ground flights, reduce energy production and damage equipment. Using heat to remove ice can be difficult and energy intensive. Now @UT_Dallas researchers have found that, under extreme cold, making ice even colder can weaken its grip on surfaces. The finding could guide the design of future deicing systems for aircraft, wind turbines and other applications in extreme cold.

This is what creating the workforce of the future looks like. Complex challenges in space exploration, hypersonic flight, advanced materials and manufacturing mean that Texas needs more aerospace engineering PhDs than ever before. In fact, a recent study identified approximately 200 positions in Texas requiring aerospace engineering PhDs. The state’s existing doctoral programs produce around 40 graduates annually. @UTSA is responding with its own doctoral program, creating opportunity for students and strengthening the Texas economy.
