Over the past week, Ms. Freya Fischer, Project Officer, and Dr. Leah Rheinberger, Medical Advisor, from @germandoctors visited Uganda to review the implementation of two projects implemented by UYAHF in partnership with German Doctors: The Integrated Community Health Services (ICHS) Project in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Western Uganda, and the Inclusive and Equitable Healthcare Services (IEHS) Project in Eastern Uganda.
As part of their visit, they joined our community outreach in Kabuna Sub-county, Budaka District, where they observed the delivery of integrated community health services, including health education, maternal and child health services, family planning, screening, and referrals.
They also met with members of the Budaka Young Mothers Forum to learn how savings groups, financial literacy, and livelihood initiatives are empowering young mothers to improve their well-being and support their families.
The visit included courtesy visits to Jewa Health Centre III and Bumadanda Health Centre III in Mbale District, where they engaged with health workers on project implementation and service delivery. They also held discussions with the project teams to reflect on project progress, share implementation experiences, and identify opportunities to further strengthen project delivery.
The visit highlighted the progress being made in improving access to quality healthcare for vulnerable communities through integrated community health services and reaffirmed the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, and community-centred approaches to health service delivery.

Last week, we had the honor of hosting Philipp Danne, the German Doctor brand Ambassador in Uganda 🇺🇬
During his visit, he spent time learning about the two projects where UYAHF is collaborating with German Doctors: The Integrated Community Health Services project in Nakivale in Western Uganda (ICHS) and the Inclusive and Equitable Healthcare Services (IEHS) project in Eastern Uganda
One key learning that Philip highlighted was his understanding of how integrated community health services are improving access to quality healthcare for rural/vulnerable communities.

Health services are most impactful when vulnerable communities can easily access quality services.
Yesterday, we were honoured to host our partners @germandoctorske at our community outreach in Kabuna Sub-county, Budaka District. With their support, we are bringing essential healthcare services closer to communities.
Community members are accessing integrated health services, including health education, maternal and child health services, family planning, screening, and referrals—all aimed at improving health outcomes and ensuring that no one is left behind.
Together with our partners, we remain committed to strengthening community health systems and expanding access to quality, equitable healthcare for all.
Every outreach is a step towards healthier families and stronger communities.

Did you know? Access to accurate reproductive health information helps women and families make informed decisions about pregnancy, childbirth, and family planning—leading to healthier mothers, healthier babies, and stronger communities.
During our recent community outreach in Manyenya Trading Centre, Nabumali Sub-county, Mbale District, we provided reproductive health education and linked community members to essential maternal health services.
The outreach created an opportunity for women and families to receive accurate information on pregnancy, antenatal care (ANC), and family planning, empowering them to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.
Every conversation matters. Every informed choice contributes to healthier pregnancies, healthier families, and stronger communities.

✨Monday Motivation✨
Let us kickstart the week by replacing myths with facts.
During our recent VHT orientation, Dr. Melanie Bienas reminded us that epilepsy is a medical condition and not witchcraft.
Knowledge empowers communities. Compassion changes lives.
Let's be the generation that breaks stigma through understanding facts and raising awareness in our communities.
Have a healthy and informed week ahead.

The weeks following childbirth are critical for a mother's recovery. Adequate rest, proper nutrition, family support, and postnatal care can help mothers regain their strength and reduce the risk of compilications.
Supporting mothers after delivery is just as important as caring for them during pregnancy.
Healthy mother. Healthy families. Stronger communities.

A new month is another opportunity to prioritize our health, amplify young people's voices, and create positive change in our communities. Together, let's continue empowering young people with the knowledge, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Here's to a month of impact, growth, and healthier futures.

Menstrual Hygiene Management is more than just having access to sanitary products—it is about protecting health, preserving dignity, and empowering girls to reach their full potential.
When girls have the knowledge, confidence, and resources to manage their periods safely, they are more likely to stay in school, participate in daily activities, and pursue their dreams without fear or stigma.
Let's continue creating environments where menstruation is understood, supported, and never a barrier to education or opportunity.
Together, we can break the silence, challenge harmful myths, and ensure every girl manages her period with dignity.

Good mental health helps us learn, work, build relationships, and support those around us.
Looking after your mental wellbeing doesn't always require big changes. Sometimes, it's talking to someone you trust, taking a break, exercising, spending time with loved ones, or asking for help when you need it.
Let's create communities where conversations about mental health are welcomed, support is available, and no one feels alone.
Together, we can break the stigma and promote mental well-being for all.
