The banner says National Champions.
But these moments matter just as much.
One of our core values at UCLA Womenโs Basketball is being a Lifestyle Giverโusing what weโve been given to make a difference in the lives of others.
As proud as I am of what this team accomplished this season, Iโm equally proud of the way these young women show up when there are no trophies, rankings, or headlines involved. The habits that build champions arenโt just developed in the gym. Theyโre developed through service, humility, gratitude, and investing in others.
Watching our players spend time with these young girls reminded me that influence is a responsibility. Every smile, high-five, encouraging word, and shared experience has the power to shape what someone believes is possible for themselves.
The championship will always be a part of our story. But who these young women are becomingโand the impact theyโre having on othersโis what makes me most proud.
Thank you to @westwomen for creating opportunities that help our student-athletes grow as leaders and servants. And thank you to @girlsplayla for the incredible work youโre doing to inspire and empower the next generation.
Championships are celebrated.
Character is cultivated.
And both matter.
