The Commission today hosted a delegation of senior staff from @IEBCKenya.
The delegation, led by Reuben Chirchir, Director of Finance at the IEBC, held engagements with Commission officials on areas of mutual interest in electoral management, stakeholder engagement, and institutional operations.
The visit provided an opportunity for experience sharing, knowledge exchange, and strengthening collaboration between the two electoral management bodies in promoting credible and effective electoral processes within the region.

Justice Simon Byabakama, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Uganda, has officially reaffirmed the election of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as President of the Uganda for the next five-year term, following the conclusion of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Justice Byabakama said the Electoral Commission conducted the presidential elections in accordance with the Constitution and electoral laws, ensuring the process was completed within the legal timelines prescribed.
He noted that the Commission successfully organised and managed the polls held on 15 January 2026, before announcing final presidential results within the required period, as mandated under the law.
Justice Byabakama stated that after tallying all valid votes cast, President Museveni emerged victorious, having secured 71.6% of the total votes, surpassing the constitutional threshold required for declaration as President-elect.
He commended Ugandans for their peaceful participation in the electoral process, saying millions of citizens turned up across the country to exercise their democratic right and determine the leadership of the nation through constitutional means.
The EC Chairperson also extended appreciation to all stakeholders, including political candidates, security agencies, civil society organisations, development partners, the media and electoral officials, for contributing to the peaceful conduct of the elections.
He emphasised that the successful completion of the election was a demonstration of Ugandaโs commitment to constitutional governance, peace and democratic continuity, and thanked citizens for maintaining calm and order throughout the process.

Mr. @j_mucunguzi, the Public Relations Officer at the @UgandaEC noted that today marks the culmination of a process that commenced months ago with the official electoral roadmap, leading to the swearing-in of the President-elect.
He observed that the process reflects the will of the people of Uganda, who entrusted leadership to the candidate who secured the highest number of votes, following a peaceful and constitutionally guided electoral exercise.

Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon further informed stakeholders that nomination of candidates will be conducted on 10th and 11th June 2026, while campaigns will run from 12th to 22nd June 2026 ahead of polling day on 24th June 2026. The Electoral Commission today held a stakeholdersโ consultative meeting in Kalangala District ahead of the By-Election of the District Woman Member of Parliament. The meeting focused on the electoral programme and stakeholder preparedness for the by-election scheduled for 24th June 2026. Stakeholders were urged to uphold peace, transparency and compliance with the electoral guidelines throughout the electoral process.
