Commissioner @MahamuudMoallim, alongside Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya @Ijabril, today opened a SoDMA-organized forum in Nairobi focused on preparedness for the upcoming Deyr rains and potential flooding risks.
The meeting brought together government officials, international partners, UN agencies, and donors to strengthen early warning systems, improve flood preparedness planning, and explore financing mechanisms to support vulnerable communities at risk from natural disasters.
Ambassador @Ijabril highlighted the important role Somali businesses and the diaspora can play in supporting emergency response efforts and assisting communities affected by disasters.
Commissioner @MahamuudMoallim emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among government institutions, donors, and humanitarian partners to enhance disaster preparedness and ensure timely assistance reaches affected communities.

Discussions focused on UNSOS’s logistical and operational support to #AUSSOM and the Somali Security Forces (SSF), and the importance of predictable support to sustain operations and strengthen long-term capacity.
Ms. Sadozai thanked @UKinSomalia for its continued support through the SSF Trust Fund, which plays an important role in strengthening Somalia’s security institutions.
Leaders of journalists’ organisations from 10 Eastern African countries have gathered in Mombasa, Kenya, to strengthen regional solidarity, advance media freedom, shape informed migration narratives and build common advocacy on the challenges facing journalists across the region.

On Tuesday in #Mogadishu, the Deputy SRCC and OiC @AUSSOM, Amb. Mouktar Osman Karie, chaired a joint meeting with @iom_somalia, @UKinSomalia, @FCDOGovUK & Lower Shabelle Governor, Mr. Abdifatah Sayid Ahmed Siidii.
The meeting highlighted that #Stabilisation is a shared responsibility between all stakeholders and agreed that efforts should be locally identified, Somali-led, coordinated and sustained.
All parties commended the significant progress achieved in #Somalia through close #partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate through a community-centered approach in supporting the Somali Stabilisation Agenda.
