Building a more secure energy system should go hand in hand with stronger workers’ rights.
That's why we're introducing a Fair Work Charter, co-designed with the trade unions.
Those who power our country deserve power in their workplace too.

3.5 million unmarried couples living together in the UK stand to gain stronger protections under Labour.
Too many couples have limited rights if their relationship ends or their partner dies - even after years together or raising children.
Labour is consulting on reforms to improve financial security, strengthen protections for survivors of domestic abuse and create a fairer system that reflects modern relationships.
'He almost seems to enjoy it, it's disturbing.'
@bphillipsonMP condemns Nigel Farage's 'sickening' performance at PMQs, where he ignored calls to denounce violence during protests in Southampton.
🚨 NEW: Latest stats show we’re over 70% of the way to our target to recruit 6,500 teachers in the places they’re needed most.
We have 4,654 more teachers in those schools and colleges compared to 2024.
Utterly tragic.
My thoughts are with the families, friends and loved ones of the three members of the Royal Navy who sadly lost their lives this morning.
Thank you to the emergency services responding to this horrific incident.
Henry Nowak’s family have lost their son and brother in the most appalling circumstances.
Nigel Farage is exploiting this tragedy to create grievance and division.
It’s completely unforgivable.
This is the difference this Labour government is making.
Kids starting the day full and ready to learn, no matter their background.
An achievement all Labour MPs can be proud of- and opposed by the Conservatives and Reform.
We’ve hit a big landmark – 10 million free breakfasts served.
10 million better days at school – more children turning up, concentrating, getting on.
10 million easier mornings for parents – better drop-offs & commutes.
Change doesn’t happen by chance, it comes with Labour. 🌹
The scenes this evening in Portswood are completely unacceptable.
The Nowak family made a powerful call to us all yesterday to not let Henry’s death be used to create further division, hatred or tension.
There can be no justification for hijacking this tragedy to stir up violence and disorder. Those responsible can expect to face the full force of the law.
I thank the police who have tonight shown great bravery and calm in the face of disgraceful violence directed at them.
Henry Nowak was kind, thoughtful and much-loved. His life was stolen from him, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
The bodycam footage is harrowing. It’s absolutely right that the IOPC is looking at this. There are serious questions for the police to answer.
This an awful, shocking case.
Henry’s loved ones have gone through the trauma of a long trial and endured Henry's killer making up appalling claims about their son who was thoughtful, kind and deeply loved.
It is right that the IOPC is investigating the police’s response to his senseless murder. And we must end the cycle of tragedy by tackling the horror of knife crime.
Henry’s family, friends, his university and the city of Southampton will continue to feel his loss, and our thoughts will always be with them.
Years of underfunding from successive Tory governments left families languishing in temporary accommodation, and children with no security.
Labour won’t let that continue to happen.

The Tories waged an ideological war on the idea of social housing, leaving many families stranded without support.
This Labour government is ending that so everyone, no matter their background or circumstance, can have a secure place of their own.

Fantastic rally and turnout from @labourunionsuk in Makerfield today for @AndyBurnhamGM. The response from the movement has been immense and means we have knocked on every door - almost twice now!
Thanks @JoanneGSUsdaw, @AndreaEganGS and @musiciansunion & all the unions for attending.
